Over the past few weeks i've noticed an increase of these topics livejournal esque topics. What I mean by that is topics which have something like "My grandma died *sob sob*" or "My gf broke up with me ;_;" and contain long, storyfied posts which do nothing but pry at your heart stings and beg for sympathy.

Now some of you might not mind this and want to open your hearts to these posts. Some of you might just ingnore them and proceed to another thread. Well this is what this poll's about. Personally i'm sick of them. People are suffering everywhere and one small topic about it on a random forum isn't going to help you or anyone else. You should discuss it would your family/friends in real life who can offer some real support.

So yeah, let's see some figures... OR I'LL CUT MYSELF ;______;

Yeah, I get what you mean, I hope my one christmas topic (which was copy pasta-ed into my deviantart journal by now) didn't seem like too much of a "oh noes i stubbed my toe, feather me with attention" topic.

It depends on the situation. If the topic's about something life-threatening and a large possibility of death, then it's more than allowed. But if you're discussing a fight you saw at school or somewhere else, then you should be banned.

Yeah but 99.99% of the time it's exaggerated if that's the case. Not to mention unless the victim doesn't get in contact with someone who can really help them then they should get their just deserts. There's no excuse to not being able to get real life help in these situations.

I agree completely. I don't think these topics do any good, other than for people to say they're sorry. That doesn't help. Ever. People should look into real life advice if they want to solve real life problems.

Also, let me just go out on a limb and say that I think the fact that there's a single, ongoing "Delmore's Life" topic is absolutely ridiculous.

I don't really have a problem with them. Sometimes people just like to vent, and are looking for someone, somewhere to agree with them about their situation so that they can feel a bit better. Or at least that's how I see it.

EDIT: @GeneralGuy: Why should someone be banned just for posting a topic like the latter one you mentioned? It doesn't start trouble with anyone, and people who don't like such topics still have a choice not to read them. Particularly trivial topics like those may be annoying, but I surely can't see a reason to ban because of them.

There's other sites made especially for that.

They might not have friends on those other sites, though, and may have more friends or people they like on MFGG than elsewhere.

I agree. I recall making a sympathy topic a few months ago that resulted in flames from another member. Needless to say, I've learned they're no good. MFGG, to me, is for fun, and I don't want to bring it down with news like "My grandmother died", which had happened in the past few weeks. I have a journal on DevArt, and I used that instead.

I never really liked them. It's only ones such as death (And by that, I mean not "OMG my pet fish died after 2 days" but rather close relatives and such) that should be posted (although really even then it's difficult to feel sorry for a person you're never really likely to meet, as harsh as that sounds), or something really important like say your house burned down or in the case of Delmore, extreme family issues where it's the only place to seek advice.

I always avoid any "oh noez my bf/gf dumped me" topics because quite frankly, with never having a real "relationship" of my own, I just don't care... not to mention the ones that are doomed to only last a few weeks anyway because young love.

A reptile having problems? That's ridiculous!

Agreed, angst can not to cured over the web. I was having fights with my girlfriend but instead of whining about it I did the nonsissy thing and did all I could to fix the problem. I think that actually helped more.

The forum's about Mario... to make it more broad, it's about video games, broadening that further it's about fun.

"Emo" topics make it less fun. </3

The only time I ever see in them is when someone comes in to kick a dead horse, like that time when pistons said "Geez, it's about time she died" in a topic about someone's grandmother dying.

Although true that you probably won't be able to solve your problems by talking about it on a message board, you will at least feel a bit better telling SOMEONE.

I don't care.

This topic is more of an eyesore.

Make it go away.
