Do you think graphics or gameplay are more important?
Personally, gameplay is my choise. If you have a game with godly graphics, but horrible gameplay, what are you going to do? It could have PS3 graphics with gameplay that ****s up so often you can't move that well.

How about you?

On another forum, everyone reviews games like graphics are 99% of importance and Gameplay is not.

But then there's that Where's Waldo NES game. You have to RELY on graphics to win.

depends, i'd rather not play a game with brilliant gameplay that looks like something an atari 2600 would laugh at.

However i don't want to play a game of rock paper scissors thats so realistic your head explodes.

Oh my god, every single time there's a topic like this, someone brings up the PS3 as if there aren't any good games for it. And then in the end, everyone either gets into a humongous argument or agrees that you need both.

GAMEPLAY. Graphics are nice, but they don't have to be good for the game to get better. For example, take Cave Story. The graphics are 16- (32- ?) bit, but the game is still on everyone's favourite list.

You people and your extreme arguments.

I for one believe that since the view of good graphics can vary, the only real thing that matters is obviously...story.

Gameplay, however, graphics serve as an additional tool for entertainment and it is very difficult to find myself enjoying a game with horrible graphics such as Metroid for the NES. For its time, it was good. But can I really stand to go back and play it today? No I cannot.

This poll is missing an integral option, for those of us who are casual gamers.

The one that says "both." A generally equal mix of good graphics and good gameplay is all I need to enjoy a game.

If I have a game with godly graphics, but horrible gameplay, I would probably sell it, because I don't want it but probably some people do. I prefer better gameplay, regardless of graphics, as long as you can see what it is, and it isn't like a seizure or anything like that. Plain ASCII text mode is fine, you don't need all of that fancy graphics and stuff like that.

For my own games: Graphics. They are the only difference between Mario fangames.
Other games: Gameplay of course. That's why we still play the old SMB games.

In every game, regardless of its play, theres always a point where the graphics are so bad it affects its play. So barely I would go with Gameplay. House of the Dead 2&3 for example, the animations and ESPECIALLY THE VOICES are what brought it down.

Protip: everyone here is gonna pick gameplay, because guess what? Nobody wants to look like a shallow ****, and many people who ARE one will convince themselves that they aren't and pick gameplay anyways. It's like people saying they want their ideal partner to have a good personality.

Anyways, My favorite games are Deus Ex and System Shock 2, both from 1999, so yeah.
