INFORMATIONPokemon Netbattle is an online Pokemon battle simulator. Instead of training up your own pokemon, you can define your own pokemon's type, moves, ev's etc using a simple team builder. Obviously NetBattle relies more on stratergy and luck rather than your ability to raise good pokemon. It is quite popular in MFGG and several members play. The regulars are listed here:

NOOB CORNERBefore you begin battling opponents via netbattle, there a few things you should be aware of. First of all by default all of your poke's will be level 100. In the GBA games you will probably feel with your team of level 100's you can kill anything right? Wrong. There is ALWAYS a way to beat your team. That's right, that 6 level 100 Mewtwo team of yours will probably perish in netbattle if the right team is put up against it. If your team consists of your favourite pokemon, they will probably lose to more powerful ones. Sorry kabutops, magmar and other "cool" pokemon trainers, you just won't do good in netbattle against the likes of Tyranitar and blissey etc.
Before battling people, you should have some idea of attacks, abilities and the type chart. If you're new to pokemon alltogether you should play the GBA games first.
So, how do you do well in this thing? Here's some pointers.
Pokemon TiersNetbattle fanatics have ordered pokemon into groups, so it's somewhat easier to tell what pokemon stand a chance against others. The groups are Uber, OU(Overused), UU(Underused) and NU(Neverused). Ubers mostly consist of legendaries and the most powerful pokemon. Overused are the pokemon who are more powerful than the rest but not as powerful as ubers. UU are the weaker pokemon than OU which aren't usually seen in Netbattle, but people still use them cause they think they're cool, and can sometimes stand a chance agaisnt OU's and Ubers. NU's are the absoloute bottomline pokemon who just plain suck. Luvdisc for example.
Players in the MFGG servers tend to use one uber and 5 other OU, UU and NU pokemon. Here's a list of pokemon sorted by tiers:
http://www.smogon.com/rs/tiersEV's and NaturesEffort Values and natures play a HUGE part in netbattle. EV's were a pain to manage in the GBA games, but netbattle allows you to set them easily. Basicly, EV's can boost the stats of your pokemon. You can boost HP, Attack, Defence, Speed, Special Defence and Special Attack with your EV's. You have 510 EV's to share out between your stats, and the max EV's you can put on any stat is 64. For every 4 EV's you put on a stat, that stat increases by 1, so be careful when sharing them out. To make sure you share evenly, you should put the Snap option on in the EV changing window.
Natures are the same sort of thing. There's a handfull of natures which boost a stat and lower a stat at the same time. For example, the Jolly nature adds 10 to your speed but lowers 10 for special attack. Smogon has plenty of statergies for placing your EVs and natures correctly with the right movesets.
