This is the original engine, however, I may switch it to side-scrolling if this poll proves everyone wants (which I think is probably gonna happen).

This can be good just add some good music and a lot of powerups.

Here is another thought. If you are doing top-view, maybe you want to add some grain to the background to make it appear more realistic (if that is supposed to be sand)

Solid color = ew, by the way. Get some sort of pattern.

It looks more original as it is. If it were side-scrolling it would be too much like Yoshi's Island.

But yeah, get a tileset.

If you are still working on your gradius game(?) you'd might want to make it vertical-scrolling, to make it different.

The background is only beta.. I haven't even started working on it yet. And by side-scrolling, I mean like the same as that screenshot, but with him going right not up, not a platformer.

It isn't, I'm just saying that it would be better to have a more original engine.

ok, well a side scroller is usually something like gradius(which you already know) and a vertical scroller is like this game

Or it's not the kind of game you are talking about? If not well, moving left-right is what I meant.

Make the game like Commando, where you walk around shooting stuff, but the area scrolls

Hehe i'm making a scrolling game ( super mario surf ) because no one had this kind of game yet, looks like thats about to change. So yeah do side scrolling please XD.
