| Yes, I finally won a competition! Also congratulations to Simoneister for the second place! The theme this time is Koopas. Game must be involved around Koopas (or any related characters like Hammer Brothers, Lakitus etc...). Other characters can make cameos, but Koopas must be the main focus. Deadline is the 12th of July (NO MORE EXTENSIONS!). If you have any questions, just ask. |

I think yes. Having koopa as a regular enemy for example would work with EVERY theme and would just be an excuse for you to make a regular Mario platformer with only koopas as enemies or something. But I didn't make the competition, so I'm not sure. |

I assume you have an idea like a point-and-click game. I'm sure that would be fine if the premise of the game revolved around Koopas, but I didn't make the competition so... |

Nah, no d3d. I had considered it, but I decided it was too much programming for too little profit. I'm using a Mario-Party inspired method of a 2D background made to look 3D. The floor moves convincingly, but I think I need to remake its animation cause it flickers a bit. And thanks! |

| Here's the result of about a half hour of work. Walk around with the arrow keys, jump with shift, and enter the shell with the down key. Once you're in the shell, press up to get out of it again. You need the shell to get through the barrier. The graphics will eventually get prettier and stuff like paratroopas and other colors will be added. This is just an engine test. |

| I've almost done the engine, it'll be a while before you see it though, I'm making this post from my DS and will not get back on the PC until tommorow (UK time). Note: Is a bit glitchy on the collisions at times and I still need to get the enemies moving... |

Itīs just an early engine test, so the graphics will be changed in the final release. Iīd release a demo, but there are still some MASSIVE glitches.(like shells getting stuck in eachother and youīll get infinite points) |

| @ strong414bad: Yours plays well. there's only glitch, though. If you try to get out of the shell and hold left/right, you'll teleport and are able to pass through that red wall. EDIT: Another glitch. If you enter the shell while being pushed by the red wall, you're unable to move. |

No. Because I'm also entering in case you missed that. It's not allowed to post discouraging in competitions, you could say that YOU couldn't beat the entry of which you've only seen a screenshot, but stuff like "YOU'LL WIN FOR SURE!" is a bannable or at least warnable offense iirc. |

I don't think I need to explain really anything in this post, since I tried to make it easy for people to start playing. There's instructions before you start, you can change your controls as well. Just try to survive and score as high as possible. Hopefully the online highscore list is working properly, as it seemed to when I was working with it. |

Whenever I play again, I can't do anything. I can't even set the controls. I can however navigate through the menu. When I quit and re-run the game, then the controls work. It might just be me though. |

Bounce against all objects. Itīs just hard to calculate the right bouncing, since the shells should move relying on the angle they got hit at. Hmm...maybe I should try simulating moving away from an object at the collision event.(like this code) move_towards_point(other.x,other.y,other.speed/2) direction+=180 Only thing, then the shells would just move away from eachother, it wouldnīt be a real angeled bouncing. |

| Yeah my Koopa rts is kind of failing, once I got the engine running, and had like 20 koopas running around, it really didn't look quite as menacing as I had hoped it would... Maybe I'll turn it into a community sim, where you have to like build homes and defend your village and whatnot. Hmm... now what would a koopa house look like? |

IF YOU DO I WILL GET YOU!!!111 Oh btw, guess why I hate the fullscreen one. I just had nothing to do, MFGG wasnīt active at all, so I just decided to play your game. Since there was nothing going on at MFGG, I turned my internet connection off and started playing. GUESS WHAT SCORE I GOT? SOMETHING ABOUT 830000! Only thing is, the internet connection was off, I tried to open IE but the DAMN fullscreen resolution prevented me from clicking connect. |

The longer you keep going, the more your score gets multiplied. Also if you didn't notice, enemies begin to spawn faster, do more damage, and some even act differently. |

| Oh, didnīt know the multiplication thing. I actually noticed that somewhen two Lakitus appear at once, and Goombas just randomly change their directions. |

And I think there's about a 5% chance I copied a previously engine of mine onto my game, but I looked both over, and they were fairly different so I think I'm safe. Your entry is legitimate if you look over a pre-made engine as a guildline, right? Like you check it over to make sure how something works / refreshen your memory? |

| I have a plan. It involves Koopa Joat, and the abilities he gains over time to traverse puzzling levels. And - you guessed it- his abilities all correspond to enemies of Mario in the Koopa Troop. I am thinking a few based on Lakitu, the Hammer Brother, and Koopa Paratroopa. P.S. Joat is an acronym for Jack-of-all-trades. |

I'm fully aware of that, but "Eeeeewww" sounds better to me. If you noticed, it said "My Vocab" meaning I will replace normal words with strange words. Eg. If I were to say Yummy, I'd instead say Nummy :P There is such a thing as "Diversity" you know. |

| After like 3 idea swaps, I finally completed mine. It's called Lakitu Survival though the folder says "Lakitu Travel". We live in a world where we'll eventually run out of Mario names. (MARIO TEA PARTY! :P) http://www.mediafire.com/?mykefmdbxym Basically, survive as long as possible while killing enemies. Make sure to avoid hitting Mario, Luigi, or Peach. Read instructions for further help.* The instruction about the sky and ground may not be clear enough. Basically, when ou are on the ground portion, just move up until you appear off the screen. The screen will fade to black, and you'll be in the sky portion. In the sky, just go down, and you'll find the same thing happen, only you'll be on the ground. |

| @Soiyeruda: - Lakitu's throws are very delayed and it's hard to hit anything unless you spam the fire button. Mouse aim + charge up for faster throws would work miles better. - Start is needlessly slow and boring. - Sky and land portions are kinda pointless to me and hinders gameplay slightly as well. You can't see whenever you're going to hit the Mario bros when you're in the sky portion and get hit by random spiny eggs you can't see until it's too late in the land portion. - Why the hell can't you move diagonally when moving downward, while you can when going upward? - Going to sky portion, getting certain powerup and spamming the fire button breaks the game. |

Not much to expect, considering this was my first Minigame Comp. I've taken most of those into consideration however. - The Diagnoal down should work. It works for me. The final comment though wasn't clear. Which powerups? In the sky, you can get 6 different spinies. Blue, Green, Purple, Yellow, Red and Orange. By break, do you mean the game pops up an error screen, the game blacks out, then exits, or the spinies disappear? If it's spinie's disappearing, then that's normal. I'll get a new version uploaded tomorrow, maybe. |

| @Ultramario: Thanks for the input. @Everyone: I've fixed most of the problems and editted a bunch of things. - Shooting spinies is now mouse-based. You aim the mouse, and then left click. The spiney will move in that direction. Holding the click down will increase the speed of the spiney. A fully charged throw will cause more damage. This makes it easier to hit things. For the powers ups, the speed and damage will change as well. for Rapid Fire Power Up, hold left click down (Though the damage remains at 1). - Enemies will appear at a faster rate. - The Spiny Eggs from the Bad Lakitus fall at a slower rate, but the longer you play, the faster they fall. This should make them easier to see. - In the Sky Portion, whenever Mario and Luigi are on the screen at the bottom, a green/red arrow will appear to indicate Mario/Luigi's location. - Coins appear more often. - Sound effects added. New version will have to come later. Curse my stupidity. |

If you mean it's like a vague copy of your idea, you could be sort of correct. I used other features, though, so it's not necessarily a copy. Mouse based firing, 2 different screens, power-ups, 2 different bars to worry about etc. But trust me, I wasn't trying to copy your idea. I just couldn't think of anything else involving a Lakitu. There was my dumb Lakitu Baby game, but the focus seemed to be more on the babies. Yeah, it gets hard to receive damage. The only real way to hurt yourself is if Mario/Luigi/Peach touch you, or the bad spiny eggs hit you (they move fast later). Everytime I play however, I only get around 4 million points. |
