| Yay, I wonned the last competition, Congrats to Ultramario for getting second and Elyk, Boomb and Dr.Light for being runner ups You can use all type of shyguys, that includes too bandits! RULES: 1. Must feature shyguys 2. Don't use old works 3. You can use any form of shyguys 4. The minigame can star other people! | God the latest compos are really uninspiring. They're pretty much only focusing random Mario enemies. I dunno if I might enter, the theme is pretty boring. |

| K, I got my Story Down, which is gonna be pretty Unique. Currently in the Programming Stage. EDIT 1: K, got the Base Engine down with the Simplest Slopes EVAH! W00T! Also, what equation would return 0.99999999999... and so on? EDIT 2: K, adding Jumping fixed the XScale Glitch. O_o |

| Making Following AI was a bit harder then I thought. I made it, but it's very limited..... Oh well! Next, I gotta work on commands. OH! Almost forgot: GAME INFORMATION: You are General Guy, and must control all of your Shy Guys, using their special abilities and commands in order to reach the end of a level. It could sorta be like Pikmin. Each Shy Guy (I plan to make 5 in all), have their own abilities that will allow you to bypass a level. |

Hmm lets see, if I can help you out with abilities heres what I think.: Blue: Swims Yellow: When in dark caves, Yellow Shy guy lights up the way, more yellow, more brightness. Red: Burns down obsticles in the way Green: able to grow into beanstalk to reach enourmous heights Black: Transforms into bombs. |

| Actually, I went with the traditional Pikmin colors:Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple and White. Red: Immune to Fire-Based Hazards. Are also the only Shy Guys who can be set on fire without dying. Blue: Can Swim, and save any nearby drowning Shy Guys. Yellow: Immune to Electricity. They can shoot thunder, which stuns enemies temporarily, and activates thunder-based switches. They have the best dive. Purple: Do the highest damage, and have the most weight. White: Can release gas that kills nearby enemies upon their death. They are shorter, and can scan for hidden switches. I've also made stats: Power: How much damage a shy guy can cause. Move: How fast a shy guy can move. Dive: How good a Shy guy's dive is. Weight: How heavy a shy guy is. HP fits into this category. In order of best to lowest: Power: Purple, Red, Blue, Yellow, White Move: White, Yellow Blue, Red, Purple Dive: Yellow, White, Red, Blue, Purple Weight: Purple, Blue, Red, Yellow, White |

Yes I read it and I don't like it. Because half the people are less experienced coders with no knowledge of arrays and they won't enter. And the other half will just think that card games are boring... |

| Got the Power Up Programmed. Plus the only way to get it is defeating Enemies, and that only has a 1/5 Chance of Dropping the Powerup! |

| Ugh, the Engine just suddenly stopped working. All I did was add Music and it starts returning Unexpected Error when I run it. Even if I remove the Music it happens! EDIT: Nvrmnd, I didn't have a Program set to Play MP3s. <_< |

| Here's a small WIP thingy to show I'm not actually bluffing. http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=fa883c613ed30dafd2db6fb9a8902bda Your controls are Left-Right movement, Space bar for Jump, and you can Press Z to make the ShyGuys stop following you. The text at the beginning allows you to select how many shyguys are out at a time. They'll all try to line up behind General Guy. This is mainly to show I didn't make 100 separate shy guys. It's incredibly limited, but like a said, this is like a Pre-WIP. So what do you think so far? |

| By doing so, the Shy Guys would have a harder time getting into position, because I don't want the Shy Guys to get left too far behind, and if I increase their speed, they sometimes can't get in position. You'll have to bear with me, and deal with the slight slowness. EDIT: Nevermind. It worked out sorta, The Shyguys still have a few occasional issues. Some updates I've done, but haven't put on main site: - Shyguys jump along with General Guy, as long as they are close to the position they are currently headed towards. The jump is delayed based on how far back they are in the line. - The Jumping AI for the Shy Guys is slightly better, in that they'll only jump if they know they can get higher. - The Shy Guy limit was reduced to 10,because that's how many I plan to allow in game. - Everyone is slightly faster. -Added new command that makes the Shy Guys go to indicated location. |

Boo is a ghost. Halloween is associated with scary things, which include ghosts. Plus, most people will make their games based around boos if the theme is halloween because they're the most common of the scary enemies. Connection explained. |

| The reason people are probably coming up with these bland themes could be the limitation for the Minigame Competition. We've only got so many sprites to work with, so we MAY eventually run out of ideas. This is what I feel is the reason these ideas are getting so.......old. I just did a random brainstorm (a mass of random ideas that relate to the topic at hand) for minigame ideas, and could only got a very small list. And trust me, I'm pretty creative. To top that off, if someone posts a bad idea, we'll have to be stuck with it, and the competition will not move on. @Keyser Soze: Who cares if it isn't Halloween related? A Halloween competition's already been done. You could extend that Halloween thing to something more however. |

I think the answer to a lack of specific ideas like "make a game with this character" is to go broader and let people interpret the theme however they want. |

| Since october's coming up, a haloween comp is a great idea! BTW, the basis of my game: You're sky guy on an adventure and are going AWOL. You're soaring through the skies in hopes of escape. However, Mario and co/Bowser don't know that, so they attack you too. Boss every 3 levels. 5 bosses (hopefully) You have 3 baloons to live on. If they're all popped, you lose a life. You have an infinite ammo slingshot, and will hopefully be able to get upgrades. So yeah. That's mine. I'm well in the engine already, so don't even THINK of takin my idea. |

That'll be sorta useless. If it's not Boos, it's guaranteed to be Dry Bones. =/ Minimal usage of boos is better. |

In other words, you want to base the competition off of ghostified enemies. Here's how the next competition should be: Make the competition relate to SOMETHING related to Halloween that has nothing to do with characters that are in the game. For example: Haunted Mansion, where the game must be in some kind of spooky mansion like stage. That's still very halloweeny and opens up tons of ideas, no? Also: Boo Guys and Eeries are basically boos. Boo Guy = Shy Guy + Boo, Eerie is just another form of boo. Ghost forms of normal enemies = Boo (Input creature here). |

Better grass is really easy to make. Open a program with noise commands Scribble in various shades and hues of green Add noise until it looks good Repeat from step 2 until satisfied. |

| In general, it looks really bland. The blocks, which I assume represent high differences, looks weird and unnatural. The grass should be done by hand, IMO. Not using smudging tools and spray paint tools and crap. But, then again, these Minigame Comps aren't about pretty graphics. So it highly depends on the actual voter. |

A Bandit is a sub-species of Shy Guy, so I'm guessing it would be okay. You'd have to ask Dark Yoshi (the one who started the competition) about it first, just so you won't get disqualified. |

Under normal circumstances, I'm a major critic. If the grass looks fine to you, then that's your opinion. If I think the grass looks like ****, and I provided reasoning, then that's my opinion. Telling me to stop complaining about his half-assed grass tileset is like telling me to write a 3 sentence review for a fangame on the main site, if you know what I mean. What I said though, is that graphics will count if the voter feels he/she does. He can keep the grass like that, but it could affect his vote amount. |

| Nicks is kinda bugged, ie, you can't open some doors that you were supposed to, and it took me forever to realize that door 35 was one you could enter and not just the door you came from in the beginning. And the whole save/load thing is annoying as hell, same goes for music. |

I'm sorry, but I tried my best at making a decent, playable platform game engine. The numbers above the doors show how many coins you need before you can enter. Game Maker 7 Lite has only one Save action and one Load action, so I'm pretty much limited in that area, but if you mean keep entering and exiting blue doors, that's your problem. As for the music, I use MIDI's for a reason. 1 MP3 is as big as a standard GM game! I respect your opinion, but I just wanted to clear that up. |

Not too sure about GM7, but a get_string should be able to make multiple saves without too much hassle. |

Why not get Pro? It's only $20 and has much more features. If you can't get it, that's too bad. Use a .wma file. They take up less space and are about the same quality as normal .MP3 files. You'll have to search for a .wma-.MP3 converter though. |

Yeah I just hate it when people declare somebody a winner by default, look at Delmore's hammer bro game (think it was him) a few comps ago, he got like 2 pages of "OMFG THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVAR!!!!" and didn't win. But yeah all that aside, awesome game Mecha. |

If someone helps alot, they're on your team and their name must be included in your entry. If its just like "hey can you make me a sprite?" or "can you help me with a bit of code?" then thats fine and its still your entry. |

| Man, I've been too busy. I don't have much done. And if you're interested in what my game will be about, it's about Bandits. You will compete against other Bandits to see who can get the most money. If you don't get the most, you lose, you lose a life and must restart the level. If you get the most coins, you move onto the next. As you progress through the game, the other Bandits will become harder to beat. There may be a 2 player mode, if I can get that far. Plus, I have homework this weekend. Maybe if I can get my homework done quick enough, I'll be able to work on this more. |

It took me about 2-3 days to make. And I see my game as a minigame, since it's clearable within 30 minutes. A big minigame, but it's a minigame. |

Hey I didn't change it, I suggested it. And it's a fine suggestion, because the minigame competitons are taking forever, literally, and compared to the sprite and drawing competitions they're moving awfully slow. Also isn't it top 5 voting time now? |
