| Well the last comp didn't work so well now did it? So this comp shall be a little easier, but a bit more narrow. "Blue streak speeds by...." As you don't know the sonic nerd in me is calling out to me. So this competition will take us back a little. ANY song from Sonic the hedgehog 1 Sonic the hedgehog 2 Sonic 3 Sonic and Knuckles Any of the above with knuckles Sonic CD Sonic 3d blast And any sonic game on the game gear Sonic Adventure Remixed. NOT A CLONE OF THE SONG, but REMIXED. \EVENT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT On your mark...get set...SONIC BOOM Begin (plz enter) |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Sep 18 2008, 01:38 AM |
| Why not include songs that are Sonic Adventure and past? |
| Posted by: shroomguy Sep 18 2008, 08:34 AM |
| How did I miss adventure? Ok fixed. |
| Posted by: NICKtendo DS Sep 18 2008, 09:26 AM |
| Just finished one. Ice Cap from Sonic 3 has always been my favorite and I played it a million times before. Don't worry, this is not an old work; I started it just today. |
| Posted by: Pikax Sep 18 2008, 03:06 PM |
| Now THIS one I might enter. |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Sep 18 2008, 06:31 PM | ||
That includes Sonic Adventure 2, right? because if so then i have an idea for a medley |
| Posted by: shroomguy Sep 18 2008, 06:33 PM | ||
Yup. No heroes though. |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Sep 20 2008, 09:24 PM |
| Alright, how come this isn't stickied yet and the other topic not deleted? |
| Posted by: shroomguy Sep 20 2008, 09:27 PM |
| Somone please fix that. Anydoodle this one should be a bit better then the last one |
| Posted by: Fender Sep 21 2008, 09:03 AM |
| asdfasdf sorry i got caught up with school and forgot about the blues, ill make an entry for this one for sure though |
| Posted by: Risa Onda Sep 22 2008, 10:29 PM |
| Stickied. Sorry about the delay. |
| Posted by: Fender Sep 23 2008, 08:38 PM |
| wait why 2 months? am i missing some sort of holiday? |
| Posted by: Mokun Sep 23 2008, 08:40 PM | ||
I think because of NCFC |
| Posted by: MimfyiLLusion Sep 23 2008, 09:09 PM | ||
Well if you count the (possible) release date of Sonic Unleashed as a holiday, then yeah you are missing one. Wikipedia said it's being released in November in America and Europe, but in December in Japan. (I don't normally trust Wikipedia, since I know it can be edited by anyone. But the game's mini-site said Fall of 2008 for the release date, so it's probably right this time...) ______ I might enter this competition, but I'm just going to have to think of what song(s) I should play first. Also, I think 2 months may be a bit of a long time for this competition, especially if many people don't enter it. |
| Posted by: shroomguy Sep 23 2008, 09:17 PM | ||
yup |
| Posted by: Pikax Sep 24 2008, 11:29 AM |
| Damn, I'd really love to enter this competition, but I've got A-Levels, a minigame competition entry and a collaborative flash movie to do as well, so odds are I'll be sitting this one out as well. If, by some slim chance, I produce something in time, I'll enter. |
| Posted by: Pucifur Sep 30 2008, 09:33 PM |
| I'll enter. |
| Posted by: kane]deth[ Sep 30 2008, 09:36 PM |
| I would enter but lack of motivation and no knowledge of sonic songs makes me want to stay out again. |
| Posted by: NICKtendo DS Oct 1 2008, 08:33 AM |
| I replace my entry with this, a speed-remix of Bridge Zone. It's meant to be looped, so it's quite short. I'm not all that good with the Bridge Zone song, but Ice Cap has a million remixes or so. |
| Posted by: MrGuy Oct 1 2008, 05:05 PM |
| My entry is pretty much done, though there are still some small timing issues. It's a remix of Scrap Brain Zone, from Sonic 1 Game Gear. This song was made using music tools for the Sega Genesis, and is fully compatible with it; the original VGM version is http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/8/1/150488/SBZRemix.vgm http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/8/1/150488/SBZRemix.mp3 |
| Posted by: NICKtendo DS Oct 3 2008, 12:57 PM | ||
The only thing that bugs me is that the lead doesn't fit the part in the end. Despite that fact, it's well done. Better than my entry by far IMO. |

| Posted by: seel Oct 19 2008, 05:17 PM |
| Bah, so I thought I'd make some sort of power metal remake of green hill zone... WIP since ½ hour ago. |
| Posted by: Cinossu Oct 22 2008, 01:55 PM |
| Can I enter? :3 *points to attachment* If you can't tell, it's Sky Base Zone from Sonic 1 SMS/GG. EDIT: I forgot to include a drum track at one part, reattach'd new file. :x |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Oct 26 2008, 01:30 PM | ||
Hey, wait a fucking second, I know who you are! Very awesome entry! EDIT: Also, now that NCFC is over, I'm hard at work on mine, so hopefully I get it in before the non-existent due date. |
| Posted by: LocoRoo Oct 28 2008, 03:30 AM |
| When does this end? If I can have like 5 more days or something, I'll make an awesome track with my new l33t music-making skills 8D |
| Posted by: Tri Oct 28 2008, 10:17 AM | ||
No deadline SO JUST GET TO IT |
| Posted by: NICKtendo DS Oct 28 2008, 11:01 AM | ||
I just HAD to save it. |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Oct 28 2008, 06:16 PM | ||
Definitely not 5 days. It was made Sept 17, and he said two months, so the due date is November 17th. |
| Posted by: shroomguy Nov 3 2008, 04:35 PM | ||
Well this ends the same day as the sprite comp. Strange eh? |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Nov 3 2008, 04:49 PM | ||
indeed and just so you know, i am still working on mine (actually at this very moment, coincidentally), so don't think "oh let's start voting early" yet |
| Posted by: shroomguy Nov 3 2008, 06:44 PM | ||
Well good luck! I hoped to see one green hill zone, but oh well. |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Nov 3 2008, 06:45 PM | ||
consider yourself lucky soon, then |
| Posted by: shroomguy Nov 3 2008, 06:47 PM | ||
... no way. |
| Posted by: Fez Nov 3 2008, 08:40 PM |
| What program do you guys use for making this music? I prefer sheet music. can you please help me with a good program to use? |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Nov 3 2008, 11:14 PM |
| Several different ones. There are some good midi-making ones, some good mp3-making ones (which will obviously be more difficult), and then there are several methods of actually making the music... Too many to mention, to sum it up. |
| Posted by: Cinossu Nov 4 2008, 06:24 AM |
| I personally use FL Studio, with a wide range of samples and VSTs. |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Nov 7 2008, 12:34 AM |
| My entry is basically complete, I just need to equalize it, use compressors, normalize, etc etc all that lovely rot, and then I'll upload it and bada-bing. |
| Posted by: shroomguy Nov 7 2008, 11:29 AM |
| Due date is 17 |
| Posted by: NICKtendo DS Nov 8 2008, 05:51 AM |
| Replacing entry with a new Ice Cap remix. Though I first didn't want to, since it has been done a million times before, this is the song I'm best at. |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Nov 8 2008, 02:58 PM |
| Awesome entry, NICKtendo! I like it better than your old one. Also, about damn time I got this mofo finished. http://djyoshiman.genericdudes.org/Player/Sonic%20Travels%20Through%20Soundwaves%20-%20DJ%20Yoshiman.mp3 The last song will probably only be recognizable to true Sonic fans. |
| Posted by: shroomguy Nov 8 2008, 03:07 PM | ||
Mind=blown Amazing. |
| Posted by: Cinossu Nov 8 2008, 03:12 PM | ||
Whilst I can hear the effort put into this, there's something about it that jars against me.. I don't know what, though, sorry. :s Not very helpful, I know, but meh. EDIT: Oh, and the last track is from the S3K Remix CD by Howard Drossin, also used in SRB2 and (Retro) Sonic XG. |
| Posted by: DJ Yoshiman Nov 9 2008, 12:25 AM | ||
Someone here is a Sonic fan! |
| Posted by: Cinossu Nov 9 2008, 12:39 AM | ||
look at my name, and reverse it. <3 |
| Posted by: Hohoo Nov 10 2008, 09:42 AM |
| I was thinking of entering... http://willhostforfood.com/files3/4796609/wackyworkbench.ogg SID drums, Gameboy melodies and soundfonts. Made with the new 0.4.0 version LMMS which is now pretty much better than ever. EDIT: New version: http://willhostforfood.com/access.php?fileid=40319 Wacky Workbench from Sonic CD. "Pretty nice retro remix" as LocoRoo said. |
| Posted by: LocoRoo Nov 10 2008, 11:38 AM | ||
ussoniC? Damn, I gotta get my entry ready soon :I |
| Posted by: Hohoo Nov 10 2008, 12:15 PM | ||
Sheet music? Even if Anvil Studio is a sheet music composing program, stay away from it. http://lmms.sourceforge.net/ is a great program. (It runs now on Graphical DOS too.) EDIT: Any comments on my WIP? |
| Posted by: Cinossu Nov 10 2008, 03:30 PM |
| This isn't an entry (as it's an arrangement, not a remix), but I thought I'd post it in here anyway, as it's related. :P Just messing around in FL Studio.. http://rubbish.hapisan.com/chaosAngel.mp3 |
| Posted by: Slamman Nov 10 2008, 04:10 PM |
| When does the compo end? |
| Posted by: Hohoo Nov 10 2008, 04:12 PM | ||
The 17th. |
| Posted by: Hohoo Nov 11 2008, 04:58 PM |
| (Double post, sorry) Any comments? How can I improve? |

| Posted by: shroomguy Nov 16 2008, 07:01 PM |
| Im glad people actually entered this time! |
| Posted by: Fender Nov 16 2008, 09:39 PM | ||
well, my first entry was like 100% chip, but there was way to much going on and i didn't like it, so this one is a little less chippy =] |
| Posted by: Slamman Nov 17 2008, 07:05 PM |
| Aren't we supposed to have some kind of vote now? It's the 17th. |
