Congratulations also to NicktendoDS and Pikaboo for their runner up entries in the last competition. This time, I am looking for a song of the sea. It can be pirate song; it can be a jaunty sea melody; it can be a sailor love ballad. Whatever you choose, it should call to mind the ocean. If you are having trouble, try using the instruments typically associated with the 17th and 18th centuries. Think accordions and string instruments. Of course, don't let these suggestions limit you. Synthesizers and electric guitars are perfectly fine as long as you can capture the spirit of the seas in your song. This competition will end February 3. If you need extension time, contact me via PM or through a post in this topic.

I think I'm a pretty decent MIDI maker so I could try to enter this. Would an underwater music like the SMB1 underwater music be okay? I'd do a sort of a tropical pirate remix of it

I actually like how the beginning and middle came out, though, as this is perhaps the first music project that I took seriously without just randomly placing notes.

Made this in a few days. (It's actually for Mushroom Kingdom Emissary, but it has quite an oceany feeling.) It's made in Rosegarden and converted into an Ogg Vorbis with Timidity. It's not that good but it's the only thing I currently have.

All I could throw together was this WIP http://www.box.net/shared/rtioskt3gg It would be much better but I can't work on it this week mecause my music making computer is only accessible on weekends Kick could use some Equalizing and lots of instruments need effects so Ugh, and I should have looped the last 8 bars. It would have sounded a lot better >: Too late now

Well, I started critiquing every single entry, but before I got to MC Jimmy, I was led to a different tab and managed to accidentally close the wrong tab. I'm not writing all that critique out again, so let me sum it up this way: There were only 5 people that managed to hold the actual feeling of either the sea, underwater, or on a pirate ship. The rest of you did good jobs, but there were either instrumentation or methods that didn't particularly get such a feeling pat down. Soiteruda MR.1UP Tri MC Jimmy Pucifur
