| Firstly, gratz to Fender for runner-up and Hippopolun for Top 1 (that is so redundant but whatever)! So, before I mention and establish the ground rules, I'd like to thank anyone and everyone who has had/has/will ever have the spirit to get at least a small (but worthwhile) entry into the competition - remember, the more the merrier! Anyhow, let's get on with this. The theme of this next competition is... Mario RPG battle themes! You can pick any battle theme (boss, regular, special, miniboss, training, etc.) present in any of these games: Super Mario RPG Paper Mario Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time Super Paper Mario (boss themes mostly since there isn't a standard battle theme) Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story ...and with that in mind, your job is to make a remix of this song. There are virtually no limitations except the ones given by the amounts of battle themes in the game, so you can pretty much do anything with the song you picked! As a standard, no things you've made before and no original songs. I'm sure we'll get to the latter sometime in a later competition, but let's leave that for then. And finally, the timeframe: June 17th, 2009 - July 12th, 2009 I would love to see at least five or six people get in, and in the case that we need extensions I'll be happy to give them out. I wouldn't like them to get past July 10th, though, so that's my limit date. Having said all that, you are now officially ready to... Go! P.S. Deadline's been moved to the 12th! Scratch that! 14th!!! |

Well, I've looked and can't seem to find much. Especially not for the song I'm doing. I've chosen the popple battle theme, so I'm pretty sure I just have to figure it out. Actually, I just realised that's way to advanced for a first song. Maybe I'll try the battle with Cackletta instead. That one seems simpler. |

| first off, am I allowed to enter as I am not a member yet? secondly, whats remixing? i.e. i have a guitar and effects pedal, if I played the song with effects is that remix? I guess lastly,if I can enter, can I get an example of what the last guy did, when he remixed and where should I look for source songs? I'm new,  brand newoh what software is advised to have to remix |

I'm actually not sure about you entering as a not-member yet, but if you manage to finish in time then we can get it in and see what we decide! Also, 'remixing' can go from making midis to using a variety of instrument packs and sound generators to put together a song that in some form or way resembles a particular song, but has a different flair/feel to it. |

there were many last guys from the previous competition Also, your range of software can be from Sonar, to ACID, to FL Studio, to Cubase, to Ableton Live, to Modplug Tracker, to Anvil Studio (if you want to make MIDI remixes), to recording and mixing via CoolEdit/Audacity/GoldWave, many of them. |

| meaning you have to remix one of the songs there, not create a new song for the Mario RPG battles also he's hoping for a future music competition to be original songs to make based off of a theme |

| I have the perfect song but I'm not sure how to remix it. Obviously ragtime doesn't do the trick. :P I really want to mix it though, so I should have something to present by the deadline. |

| I've got an entry about halfway done but I am really pondering just redoing the thing since it isn't too remixy. If I do decide to redo it it shouldn't be that time consuming. EDIT: Eh, forget it. If I don't have my old entry done by tomorrow don't expect to see anything. Lots of crap has come up and is keeping me preoccupied as of late so I don't have much time for music making. |

| Bleh, I only got halfway done but its all I can muster at this point. Not too happy with it... its hardly a remix tbqh, but I hope its accepted regardless. Different instruments, percussion, and bass lines give it a slightly more rushed and competitive feeling. http://www.box.net/shared/yhxebojb4n Nevermind that it just cuts off at the end. :D |
