The representative said they're going for a worldwide simultaneous release in an interview I watched.

Also, in this interview, it was said that "when we reveal the release date, it will make you all [b]very happy[b]". The same was said about the price, and that we'd all be "rushing to buy one". Makes sense that it could come out late August if they're saying "by Q4 2006" and then suddenly sometime soon they tell us it's coming in August and we all get a pleasant surprise.

The less waiting the better for me. The anticipation is killing me. And that's the first time a console has ever done that to me.

You know, Video games are just as popular over here than over in America, if not MORE popular. It's just that Nintendo don't own the market over here any more, which is why the Wii should be a global release - to make up for the GameCube's losses.

I wonder how many ever even considered the difference between Japan and the USA's NTSC format, and Europe's PAL format.

Of course, granted that's not much of a reason for things like the DS which should work either way, but for the Rev...well you get the picture.

Well, we COULD but then we'd have to we'd have to get specailist equipment to get it to work, not to mention having to open it up to get it to work with PAL games as well!

Or Nintendo might pull a similar stunt to the Xbox 360, where the first few units were open.

Nintendo has had always very loose region protection. I destroyed my N64 and SNES region sensors, and soldered those two tiny holes in the GCN, put a switch near the cooling fan reaching out the back of the system, all thanks to an online video guide.

Because of the setup for the Revolution, it's probably going to be even more susceptible to region cracking, and general piracy.

I usually have a guilty conscience when doing something what would void a warrenty, but region protection is perhaps the most goddamn stupidest thing that has been forced on the video game industry.

Also, anybody who thinks that the Wii should launch on the same goddamn day in every country in the world is insane. The gaming market cares less about ****ing Europe than any other region (not 3rd world) that sells games in the world, so you should be glad you're getting it within 4 months of the North American and Japanese launch. It's very illogical to launch any system in multiple places worldwide, unless you're some company that wipes their ass with $100,000 bills.

If you honestly believe that precise worldwide launches are the way of the future, than perhaps you should pursue a career out of game developmen byt founding "Nintendo of Africa".

Nintendo's going to launch it in Europe shortly after the North America launch--but they want to take care of their primary markets first.

The thing is, after Japan and America I think is Europe is the largest market. Shouldn't it be considered as important as well?

One of Nintendo's main bases of operation is in Germany or something... Seems kinda stupid to just ignore that market altogether.

But I'm loving the way all you Americans are saying Europe shouldn't get it until later on, even when we're just as deserving (If not more due to all the hundreds of games that aren't released over here for whatever reason) as you.

Yes, I am aware they are an analog television system.

But I never specifically mentioned them. huh.gif

I meant the "region detectors" inside of the system. A switch is all that's in the way from playing different region GCN games. With the Nintendo 64, it was even simpler to bypass by opening the system (with the elusive Gamebit) and reanging the cartridge assembley. It's also possible to take a very sharp X-Acto and slice off the tabs which prevent the cartridge from sliding in.
