Simple: the flame is part of the Dino-Torch sprite, not something separate.

In any case, use animated hurt blocks (which you'll be on your own with!)

What I believe to be hearing is to use ASM and MWR to make Dino Torches similar to blocks (can no longer move and can be walked on and only shoots fire in one direction) And also, animation is complicating. I dont get whats the deal with frames and stuff. What 8x8 section of an animation does each frame use? After adding those Goombas into SMIHA? I lost Jumping Pirahnas, and any effort to put one in made the whole level glitch
