Bacteria lack DNA, I think. And Bacteria reproduce. A tour guide at Yellowstone national park mentions that there are colorful bacteria that thrive in geysers heated to over 600 farenheight.

FYI Viruses do have DNA and can reproduce while in a cell that is its host....DNA is transfered into the cell to kill it and create more VIRUSES!

Everyone go listen to Red Rain by Peter Gabriel, now.

On a related note, I have pondered the possibility of extraterrestreal life having an alternate coding compound instead of DNA, and it would be somewhat cool for me if they actually found some other coding system in these little guys.
