It's nothing extraordinary, or extremely special, well, not unless you haven't used the first DS. But it's certainly worth the money spent.
I'm not going to re-establish everything that the media like IGN has said about it, but I strongly recommend it for anybody interested, especially seeing as how most retailers are offering deals if you trade in your original DS.
Even the lowest battery setting is backlit, and on that setting, you're going to get around 16-20 hours of juice. On the highest setting you're going to get around 6-10 hours of juice. With that said, you can probably figure out how long it will last on the two in between settings.
The DS Lite uses the same charger as the Gameboy Micro, surprisingly, so you're no longer going to have to rely on those old GBA SP chargers.
