SSBM Debug Menu

I found this GUIDE and tried it to open up the debug screen. I got the pal version, but nothing shows.
Really, I entered the code, and when I started up SSBM (without memory card, ofcourse) it just shows black. I thought I should use v. 1.0 code instead of PAL, and it got into SSBM, but after the titlescreen, it freezes.
What am I doing wrong? Does I need another piece of code?

Make sure there's no Must Be On codes required for it, though I don't think there is for the Debug Menu code.

Make sure you entered it right. Just because the AR accepted the code doesn't mean you put it in right. Check it over.

If all else fails, go to ARC and ask there.

Well, I don't really use an AR, but something equal.
The codes are slightly diffrent, and I have to convert them.

I bought my SSBM in europe, but it says 00 on the disk...
How do I find out?

00 is version 1.0. PAL doesn't have a number.

Okay then. I've got 1.0.
And everytime I try with the 1.0 code converted, I make it to the titlescreen, but it freezes.

Like I said, recheck your code and make sure there's no required activator codes.

If that doesn't work, I can't help you.

Great! I got it working!
But, it has a few problems.
When having the code on, I can't have other codes active, which is opposive of what everyone else says are "normal". Well, it works. But now I'd really like to add some 'fixes' to the freezes, but can't. Any help?
