http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/3463/bluedragon8lp.png

Trying to fight an artist's block, I decided to try drawing another dragon. When I outlined this, I realized I forgot to draw in the scales so I tried adding them, so they look kinda off in a ways...also, unlike most other drawings, I tried shading this...I think I overdid it though, I never tried shading too much on my pics but I shaded this.

Anyway, anyone want to see anymore dragon poses? Well, so far, this kind of pose is the only dragon pose I know how to do, but teaching me how to do different poses and stuff is also gladly appreciated :D

Anyway, C+C pls

Your getting better but it could use some work. The shading dosn't look to good. It seems like you decided to change the light source in the middle of shading this. The wing looks very messed up. The tail seems a bit short compared to the body and the legs seem pretty far apart. Try using a picture of a dragon as a guide and learn what it's body parts look like and it's poportions. Pictures help alot but tracing dosn't.

Sorry if I sound harsh but you're getting much better =)

Yeah, I was kinda afraid I was gonna overdo the shading >.<;;; where do you think there are areas I should've/shouldn't shaded?

Anyway, thanks for the comments guys

You didn't go overboard at all. It's just that it seems as if you changed the light sorce in the middle of drawing it.

I know...but the thing is, I kinda wanna know what areas I should've shaded or shouldn't have shaded though...and really to me light sources isn't really something I can quite get; the drawing has to be shaded in a certain area depending on whatever light source there is in a drawing, however, the hard part is making the shading so that it fits a specific light source for me (hard to explain).

I understand. Light sources can be confusing.

I suggest getting rid of the shading at the top of the nose. I also suggest thining down the shading on the legs and on the back. shade the othet side of the leg to give it a rounder apperence (the legs look flat). The shadows color should be a bit lighter and you should shade a bit under the eye and mouth. You should add shading to the yellow part of the wing touches the blue parts. The entire back wing and legs should be a darker color than the front wing and front legs and should have a darker color for shading.

Hope this helps but that's good for first attempt shading. Your getting there. Keep it up!

The shading is horrendous... but this alot better than all of your other works.
Try to pick a light source next time.

The the distance between the legs makes it look like the dragon has a fat ass.

Actually the light source looks totally fine to me. Where you people see crazy shading I notice that he has taken things into consideration. Why is there shading on the back? The spikes are casting small shadows of course! Sure, it could me a little more intricate, but if you ask me, he's got just about everything covered.

This is nice. It's got that Sharpe-Blonde-Bishie-Turned-Dragon look about it XD When I draw dragons (which is EXTREMELY un-often) I do all the silly little ovals and shapey stuffs to represent the body parts instead of diving in and ending up with something deformed. That way I know how every thing that you can see should look because I know how it fits in with the other body parts.

you keep on improving. i admire your determination, really, crazy as it sounds. D: i've been a little down lately but it's kinda inspiring how you just keep maing these and you get a teeny bit better with each one...: D

It looks like you could do well with animated PaintBSS, which actually, I would strongly recommend for you because the Shade On tool could make your shading look even more decent, even if just a bit (by blurring and blending the colors together).

...@_@ god i write long comments
