Well, up until now, i've been here for the people, the games, and the PPP. But now, i've decided to actually make a game, and why not use my favorite character? Well, I did. So now, i'll be making this game...and i've really got nothing else to say. I'm still new to this. Though it is fun. So...erm, how about I just post some screenshots and info?

One day in a kingdom far away, called the Garden Kingdom, there was a
beautiful princess named Flora. One day, the evil Jynx, Queen of Bugs
became jealous of her beauty, and kidnapped her. News of the kidnapping
quickly spread throught the Kingdom. Would no one save the beautiful
Princess Flora? Luckily, the Kingdom had a local extermination 
buissness, where one of the exterminators was Stanley The Bugman,
cousin of the great Mushroom Kingdom hero, Mario Mario. Stanley
heard of the kidnapping, and decided if he could save the princess,
maybe he'd get the girl, and the fame his cousin had for so long!
                        ---And so it begins...---
 
=Areas=
-Grasslands-
Your average grassy area. Here, you'll get used to controlling Stanley,
and battling the Ant Queen's evil forces!
Boss: Ormega
 
-Sea-
Looks like the fight's taken to the seas! At first, you'll find
yourself in the ruins of a land gone by. But then STanley'll have
to use his submarine, The Sea Snap, to fight Ormega one more time!
Boss: Aquamega
 
-Island-
Oops, looks like Stanley's washed up on an island! The natives don't
look too happy to see you either.
Boss: Paku Aku

-Spray Areas-
In a few levels, you'll get to use Stanley's bugspray instead of just
jumping on enemies. Though watch out! The enemies here are tougher and you'll have to beat all of them to move on.

-There's more?-
Yes, there's other areas, but I wanna surprise ya. But i'll give ya
a few hints. You use a Snap machine one more time, venture to a land of
fireflies that look kinda like people that'd be on some kind of message
board, and finally, fight Jynx the Ant Queen!


And I believe some thanks are in order, even though i've just started.. Thanks to Naoshi, for answering my questions about using TGF, and Robby for becoming the cutscene maker.

Anyway, I really am new to this, so i'll gladly take any advice and/or comments. And criticism. (Constructive, I hope.)

Only in Star Land. They're more like, Fireflymaids and Fireflymen. Similar to mermaids and mermen, except they have a little light instead of fins or legs.

The idea is awesome, and I want to play this game after reading the story.
Try not to make the shooting levels too sparse, those sound like fun. Also, having to destroy every single enemy might get tedious--make sure you design those stages well.

The engine, while it works, could still use some improving.
-When facing left, the bug spray doesn't come out of the cannister, but from behind it. Also, he walks faster than the bug spray.
-Stanley will jump up if you walk into a wall. Also, if you jump at a wall, sometimes you stick to it and slide down slowly.

Anyhow, keep at it!

Yeah, I know about the problem with the spray coming out. I don't really know how to fix that though. I would appreciate any help.

I'm not familiar with how ClickTeam products work, but can you set it so that when you create the bug spray, it jumps so many pixels left if its sprite is the leftward bug spray sprite?

It's Ok but I don't like how when you press a key it will shoot in the direction. Other than that it's not bad.

Everything seems fine, though the game closes itself once all three bugs are destroyed. Being able to aim the bug spray is a nice touch I wish was in a lot of sidescrolling shooting games.

Yeah, I kinda meant for it to do that, since there's really nothing else to do. Anyway, i'm gonna quickly put in some other enemies, do the Beeles how I meant them to be, and start the levels.
