To answer a question (hasn't been asked), ROMs are considered illegal since the companys that reated them either: 1. Still selling them 2. Not realeased as freeware. But I think getting old roms (ie LoZ, SMB, etc..) are perfectly legal, seeing the numerous hacks, and the fact that Nintendo doesn't sell them anymore. [/rant]

Ah, but there's the rub: The NES classics series for GBA.

With the virtual console and arcade features of Wii, XBOX360 and PS3, you'll really have no excuse to emulate.

Everything you said is true and irritating, though I guess we can't say we're much better, what with breaking the law and all.

I know of at least one fantastic ROM site for old school games (no pop-ups, only a single banner on each page, fast downloads, no voting, et cetera), but that's it; other than that site, all of the sites that are even "decent" are still pretty sucky.

Would you say it's Good Quality?

Still not legal and even your ethics argument will have holes in it with the many remakes and the advent of the virtual console.

I know of at least two good ROM sites, although one sometimes has "lines" for certain downloads. For the most part, you have to know the site to be able to find it. Very rarely have I found a good site (read: one that actually has ROMs) by doing a google search... but it does happen sometimes. smile.gif

The only thing I can think of that's 100% perfect to emulate are games that have been completely and totally abandoned for over 25 years and/or released to the public domain. This includes:

Yeah, the one I use has 'vote' links, but just under those it lets you download anyway, even if you don't click the vote links. No popups or other crap either.

So yeah. Good site.

Haha, if it's the one I'm thinking of, they have EVERYTHING - the zip files even have different language versions of the games

Although ROMs for newer systems like GBA require donations to download.

Me, Klobs, and Elly are all thinking of the same one.

I go to that site all of the time.

...I turn to Limewire for GBA roms, which I rarely download.

Yeah that happens.

Just don't shut down by only pressing the button. Actually go and shut down the computer
