Top 10 favorite, Video game endings

Yeah, why not Endings can be Great and Just Top off the game, So post your favorite.

I don't feel like making a list, though I gotta say I really liked the ending to Mega Man 3, what with finding out Proto Man is Mega Man's brother (/prototype), plus the whole Robot Master roll-call (showing all the RMs from Mega Man 1, 2, and 3).

Mega Man 3 just kicks ass in general, I guess.

1. Any of Chrono Trigger's endings. The fact that there are multiple ones to begin with is great. Makes the game feel less linear, even as a Square RPG.
2. Metal Gear Solid 2. Keep reaching, Solidus!
3. Earthbound. Doesn't like, every NPC have a new line of text? Incredible.
4. Metal Gear Solid 3
5. Phantom Brave. I just loved the ending, not to mention this entire game. You've probably never even heard of Phantom Brave, but if you're in the mood for a great story-based tactical RPG, this is the choice. They even eliminated the grid! I'm sorry, but Fire Emblem doesn't have **** on this.

I don't feel like listing any more, since not many game ENDINGS stand out to me that much. Final boss fights, on the other hand...

I cannot deny the beauty of Megaman 3 nor Earthbound's endings!

My other favorites would have to be Secret of Mana, because it's so sad and cool at the same time, Chrono Trigger, because there's a whole BUNCH of endings, with most being really cool, and Super Mario RPG, along with the original Super Mario 64 and Super Mario World.

EarthBound is probably my favorite ending of all time, until I play Mother 3.

Spoilers:

After beating Giygas, you get beautiful music, a cast list, and the chance to travel around to the places you visited in the game to see how your adventure affected everyone. The ending lasts as long as you want it to. When you're ready, you return home where you see the cast list and then a photo album of your adventure.

I actually plan on picking this up when I get closer to beating Disgaea

I wish I didn't totally suck at Phantom Brave. I really like the cast and story, so I do want to get around to finishing that.

As for the endings I like...I can't think of ten, so I'll just say some that come to mind.

I'm not a huge Earthbound fan, but I liked that ending... Tales of Legendia had a really emotional, sappy ending and I'm a sucker for that if it's done right. I remember really liking Super Mario RPG's ending when I was younger, and I also like the endings for the Phoenix Wright series (even though I haven't played through all of them yet.)

Oh, and We Love Katamari. Crashing everyone into the sun ftw.

I liked Donkey Kong Country's ending for some reason, particularly the part with Donkey and Diddy messing with each other and Cranky going "IS IT MY TURN YET?" in the cast lineup.

FF9s ending was great.


I can't think of any games that stike me and say "THIS GAME HAD A GOOD ENDING". I kinda liked Chrono Cross's (main/first ending especially).

The main character abandons her old life, job, and fiancee in exchange for desperate attempt at fulfilling an old man's wish.

Myst 5
Spoilers:

Self-explanitory. The whole series closes, and everything is bittersweet. One of the only two game endings to almost bring me to tears

Illusion of Gaia
Spoilers:

The other one that almost brought me to tears. After saving the world, the two main characters have to separate and never see each other again. Really depressing, but really beautiful.

Doom 3
Spoilers:

Revealing that Betruger was really the Maledict is ****ing awesome.

The Journeyman Project 3
Spoilers:

Every single question is answered, and there's absolutely no room for there to possibly be a sequel. The game ends right where the series started.

Hitman 2
Spoilers:

Hard to explain to anyone that hasn't beaten the game before, but its very cinematic.

As for a Worst Ending, FF8. I still have no idea what the **** happened.
