Secret Challenge Mode
The secret Challenge Mode allows you to replay levels you've completed in a new way. In Challenge Mode, the screen will not scroll to the left. So, if you pass up something good, you can't backtrack to pick it up (like in the original Super Mario Bros.). This makes the game even more challenging! Here's how it works:

1. Complete the game (see the ending at least once).

2. On the world map screen, press Start to pause the game.

3. Enter the following code: L, R, L, R, X, X, Y, Y.

4. If you enter the code correctly, a message will appear announcing that you have accessed the secret Challenge Mode. A yellow arrow will appear in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, indicating that Challenge Mode is activated. Note that Challenge Mode can only be played in areas that you have completed.
