Exactly - so when you barely have time to finish and enter a minigame for a competition, why should we expect you to battle such skewed odds as a complete Mario platformer?

Yes. The minigames are short and simple. Nothing fancy.

If anything yours would be longer than his.

I see your point, but I don't agree with it. Again if this was to be done then there should be size limits on the other compos. It's about having time and using that time. Me, I didn't use all the time I should've and that's my fault. That's why you don't see my game in the top 5.

And anyway who's to decide what's a mini-game and what's not? You can't go by file size.

Would you consider your fighting game from before a mini-game?

MINIgames. That's what they are. They aren't a large game, they're small. His game featured several minigames, which does not make the whole thing a minigame, it makes it a full game that features a collection of minigames. Is the actual Wario Ware a minigame? It has a bunch of microgames in it, and with what you just said, I guess that means it's a minigame.

Because unless somebody writes a set of rules for the minigame competition complete chaos will ensue.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a minigame.

Super Mario World is a minigame.

Super Mario Epic is a minigame.

If you see anything wrong with the above statements, you can tell the difference between a "full" game and a minigame :P

Why is this so complicated it should be common sense ;_; Does anyone here honestly NOT know what we are talking about when the word "minigame" is used? There's no need to define what it is and is not because everyone here has played enough games that they more than likely know.

It's not an issue of whether full games have more of a chance of winning...it's that they're not minigames. And it's called a minigame comp.

Honestly if I stumbled onto this topic as a new user and found all of us arguing about bogging the minigame competition down with rules, I don't think I'd ever enter one.

Okay, I'll say it again. THE TOPIC IS SO WE CAN ESTABLISH RULES FOR THE NEXT MINIGAME COMPETITION SO WE DON'T GET INTO STUPID FIGHTS LIKE THIS. Can you all just stop already and get back on track? The topic is going to get locked if you can't.

Personally I think it was just named Minigame because that's what most people would have time for. You keep saying obvious things and we (or at least me) agree with them. But I don't think you should judge a compo just by the name.

Okay, yeah, let's drop the discussion of full games/minigames for now and concentrate on rules we CAN agree on, like the time limits and such.

Except maybe you should, because that's what it is. Sprite competition isn't a drawing competition, is it? The point is minigames, not full games. There, done.

As much as I wanted any game to be entered, I'm beginning to sway more towards the "mini" games only idea. Not only woill more people seemingly accept it, it's just a logical idea. The argument for long games are that if you can create it in the short time, it's legit, although it probably won't happen. Well, if we make a rule against it, then it won't happen for certain, and we won't have to wrry about it.

I really want the next comp to start =(

Ah but a drawing/spriting (dunno which one anymore) compo includes Pixel Art. But that's not in the name. Hmmm
