Sprite Competition #82: Sarasaland

Looks like I won my 2nd sprite competition .

Congrats to Toodles for placing 2nd! Here's his entry.

Basically you sprite anything that came from Super Mario Land. The enemies, the airplane/submarine, the bosses, etc.

Since SML's graphics were pretty crappy, here's a site with loads of promotional art from Super Mario Land:

hmm, I might give this a shot.

Good god, I'm sick of that Paper Mario style.

Maybe I should sprite that cloud!

It's the real PM style. Toodles does A hybrid of PM/PM2. I'm sorry if you don't like it, I don't really want to stop it now :P

Actually, the style I use is supposed to be the Paper Mario 2 style, not a mix. I'm not even sure if I'll enter this just yet, but if I do, I'll try a new style.

EDIT: Okay, maybe not. I found something that I would REALLY like to do in the PM2 style. We'll see.

I have already got those on my computer. I don't like to make sprites that big. You can't really use them for anything. That's why I tend to make them the size that I do.

I'm not saying you should quit. I was just saying I'm sick of it.

The fact that you emulate the style rather than using those build-up sheets pratically counts as making them from scratch. The PM style is awesome and all, but many members killed the fad with crappy PM sprites

I make each pose, no build ups.

I like it how you're one of the only people who don't need to be all lazy and use "build your owns".

I never could get M&L style quite right... -.-;

I'll either:

• try a different style
• Make a sheet of this
• or do nothing and settle for this preview.

I think you got the style spot on. If your going for in battle I mean.
