As some of you might know, I'm currently in the middle of a long dental treatment program, for which I have being wearing braces for well over a year now at this stage ( I've broken just about every rule given to me in regards to what and what not to eat or drink with them in, except when it comes to chewing gum, for some bizarre reason! ) I don't actually mind the braces too much, it only annoys me when it cuts my lip!

Anyways, as part of this treatment, which will mean I can finally close my mouth without having to make an ( small, though ) effort, I will have to have an operation done my Jaw to straighten it but before that can even happen, I have go through something rather unpleasant, namely, the removal of 3 of my wisdom teeth!

Yesterday ( Thursday ) , I met with the professor who would doing the jaw operation to finally arrange my appointments for their removal. I was given 2 choices on how it should be done under, either General Anapaestic ( SP? ) ( I'd be knocked out ) or Local Anapaestic ( SP? ) ( I'd be awake for the whole thing but no pain ) Now, I would have gone for General BUT I was told the waiting list is long and it would probably be next year if I went that route! SO, even though the other route is probably going to give me nightmares and leave me like an nervous wreak on the week beginning Sept 11th, I went for it for the sake that it was shorter and owing to the fact my treatments has being delayed long enough either due to my own doing or that of others and I want these braces out ASAP!

The 2 appointments for their removal have being arranged for September, 2 weeks between each other, both on Fridays. At least for the 2nd appointment, I should not be so nervous! I've also being to told to eat something beforehand, something I WILL take heed of! I made that mistake when I got a tooth next a wisdom tooth removed ( The one that is staying ) , I was shaking from hunger by the end of the day!

OK, I'll shut there for now. Discuss your experinces with the dentist! ( On the bright side, you've got to love those chairs! )

Usually they say not to eat or drink anything 12 hour prior. But I guess that's not so much a problem if it's only local anesthetic.

Brave choice. I would've waited a year and slept while they fixed with my jaws. :[

I had braces. That was not nice at all. So painful when they adjust them every so often. Before then, I had to have two of my baby teeth removed, because... they were just there, not falling out of their own accord, as they should. So the adult teeth were there, but angled pretty wrong. The two stubborn baby teeth got pulled. This was under local anaesthetic. They were the two upper eye teeth (I think...).

After that, one adult tooth underneath came out, as it was meant to. The other one was just... stuck. So I had surgery to get it pulled out. This time I was under general anaesthetic. Wierd experience. Or wierd non-experience to be accurate... before the operation, I was on the bed/table, with a drip dripping some stuff into my vein... then they added the sleep juice. Then I woke up again and it was finished.

Now I'm wearing a retainer, 'full-time'. After a while I'll ovly have to wear it nights, then like 2/3 nights per week. Yay biggrin.gif
