How do you make a menu in game maker i want it be able to have that can some one please help? biggrin.gif

Make an object for every button. Make events for the buttons so when clicked, you will go to another room. Make rooms filled with stuff. Make stuff filled with code. Make the code from the alphabet.

There, to make a menu, invent the alphabet.

An alternate way:
Have one image with multiple frames (with a different option highlighted every time). Set the imge speed to zero in the object. When the player presses up, have image_index decrease, or (-) one. Do that with the down key, only have it increase, or (+) one. Then have a code in the select key (like, <shift> or something) that looks a bit like this:

if (image_index = 0)
room_goto(room0)
if (image_index = 1)
game_restart

And stuff like that.

You might consider a menu where Mairo has to hit a block to select an item from the menu.

if (vspeed < 0) && (place_meeting(x,y-1,obj_menublock_start)
{
room_goto(room_level1)
}
if (vspeed < 0) && (place_meeting(x,y-1,obj_menublock_restart)
{
game_restart()
}

So you see, there are many many ways of doing a menu.
