This is partially for my own collective reference and will probably make it to the site eventually. I'll be adding to it over time as I think of things, or as people remind me.
Q: I registered on the forums, but I can't login to the site. Why? A: The site and forums don't use the same user accounts. You must register an account on each one separately. It's also possible that you won't be able to use the same name in both places.[/b]
Q: Why are emoticons, ibcode, html, ... disabled? A: None of these features exist on the site and will work on the forums only, with the exception of some simple ibcode. For security reasons and time constraints, it is unlikely that any of this will be added or expanded on in the near future.
Q: My 14.9M file didn't upload, but the limit says 15M! A: The 15M file limit is special in that it also the limit for all data you submit, including your text descriptions, category choices, and thumbnail images. If your file is within a few kb of the limit, you may not have enough room for this extra data to go through. Files close to this limit also limit the remaining memory that the script has to work with, which may cause additional problems. These files should be uploaded to your own webspace, and a link provided to one of the site mods for manual inclusion (they will download it and manually upload it to MFGG). Attempting to post it on the forums will only run against the same problems.
Q: Help! I can download files, but I can't see any thumbnails! A: Because of inconsiderate webmasters that try to mirror our content, we've had to enable hotlink protection on our thumbnails and preview images. For the vast majority of users this poses no problem. Users who use security products like McAffee or Norton may have trouble however. This is because these products sometimes mask the referer information your browser normally sends the site. You will have to disable this feature in such products if you want to see thumbnails.
Q: I got a "Request did not originate..." error message. What does it mean? A: This error message is part of a feature that protects the site from XSS attacks and accidental "double-posts". This message will appear if your submission is successful, and you accidently try to resubmit your information by using the back button or refresh button at the wrong time. This message can also appear if the transaction ID that accompanies the rest of your submission data doesn't arrive on the server. This can happen if the size of your data, including your files, exceeds limits set by the server. If this error ouccurs while submitting a file or review, you will be a chance to recover your data via a link in the message, because the server cannot fill the fields back in for you when you press the back button, as it would normally do for other errors.
