MFGG Awards 2006, Nominations begin... NOW

Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come for the Third Annual Mario Fan Games Galaxy Awards! As with past years, users may place nominations in any of the following categories. PM your nominations to user MFGG Awards (click here if you're super lazy).

NOTE: READ THE RULES AT THE BOTTOM BEFORE SUBMITTING NOMINATIONS. Any nominations that do not adhere to the rules will, of course, be discarded.

Individual Awards

BEST PIXEL ARTIST/SPRITER
The member who creates the best sprites or pixel art. We've conveniently lumped them together so you don't have to argue about what's a sprite and what's pixel art. You can thank us later.

BEST ARTIST
The best (non-pixel) artist on the board. Artist may specialize in any medium.

BEST REVIEWER
The user who has submitted the most thorough and well-written reviews to MFGG.net.

BEST ENGINE MAKER
The user who has created the best engine (or engines) this year. Is not limited to a specific game creation program or programming language.

MOST POSITIVE CONTRIBUTOR
The user whose contributions to the site/board have proven to be the most overall positive.

JACK-OF-ALL-TRADES
A generally talented user. Master of all arts.

BEST MFGGER OVERALL
Name says it all; the best MFGGer over the past year.

MOST FRIENDLY
The first to welcome new members, the first to compliment members on their work, et cetera, et cetera.

MOST HELPFUL
The go-to guy (or girl) for solving a problem.

BEST NEWBIE
Hey, they're not all bad.

MR. POPULARITY
The guy who has all the friends. Everybody loves him. His topics go to page 1000.

FLAME-PROOF
A fire-retardant member who stays cool even when attacked.

MOST CHANGED
The member whose personality has shown the most drastic change in the past year.

MOST INFLUENTIAL DEBATER
Can convince anybody that his opinion is correct ("master debater" jokes will result in twenty lashes).

FUNNIEST MEMBER
Always has the best jokes. Anybody with an Austin Powers impression is automatically disqualified.



Fangames

BEST GAME
Best full (Mario) fangame overall.

BEST NON-MARIO GAME
Best full non-Mario fangame.

BEST DEMO
Best demo fangame.

BEST MINIGAME
Best minigame of the year.

BEST SPRITES
The fangame that either used great original sprites, made great use of official sprites, or did a little of both.

BEST ENGINE
The game with the smoothest engine.

BEST LEVEL DESIGN
The game with the most intriguing, entertaining, original level design.

MOST POLISHED
This game has the coolest, shiniest special effects.

MOST OVERLOOKED
MFGG.net's best kept secret.

MOST ORIGINAL GAMEPLAY
The game with the most innovative gameplay features.

MOST REPLAY VALUE
The game that you just can't put down, even if it were physically possible to put down a fangame.

MOST ANTICIPATED
The potential release of this game just gets you absolutely giddy with excitement.

BEST STORY
This game has the most enthralling plot.

BEST IDEA
The game that had the most original concept.

BEST SECRETS
This game keeps you looking for secrets.

BEST SETTING
A good game needs good settings, and this game has the best.

BEST USAGE OF SITE RESOURCES
The MacGyver of fangames, making awesome use of the resources available on MFGG.net.

BEST MEMBER OF THE VILLAGE PEOPLE
They entertained us for years and inspired an entire generation of gay men to join the naval armed forces. Now you get to vote for your favorite!

R U L E S

1. Voting is for the period beginning JUNE 30, 2005.

2. Only one vote per category. You can't vote for or nominate yourself. Any vote for yourself will be discarded.

3. With the exception of "Best Non-Mario Game," games must be on MFGG.net to qualify for fangame categories. Games posted in the Fangames Discussion forum that are finished or have demos (not engine tests) are also allowed.

4. With the exception of "Best Game" and "Best Non-Mario Game," demos are eligible for all fangame categories.

5. Only unfinished games are eligible for the Most Anticipated Award, but they may be from MFGG.net or the Fangames Discussion board.

6. When the nomination period has ended, final voting will begin.

7. Remember, PM your votes to account MFGG Awards.

I'm not sure how this works, do we nominate for each category or only one or however many we want?

You don't have to place a nomination in every category, though you're encouraged to do so in as many as possible.

Most fads are offspring of banned members.
