What thought to be a complete make-money-off-of-tragic-events is actually a good movie. While I wouldn't even put it close to United 93, it's an entirely different take on that day.
Michael Peņa completely steals the movie. He's not a real well known actor but apparently he also stole the show in Crash. (Unfortunately he's a Scientologist) Nicolas Cage is also amazing in this one. This is really one of his better roles. The story jumps in fast and within the first 20 mins they're already trapped under one of the towers. So it leaves the last hour and a half to just sit there, which'll get boring if you're not into the events of that day. The filming style I didn't like. The screen goes completely black or white about 50 times. No joke. The effects were amazing and that was one amazing collasping scene, no disrespect to those who died in it. The music was also great in it, nice and haunting. The ending was too fast and hardly talked about what happened afterwards.
It was a good movie. A bit stretched out, the film style could have been less repedative, and a longer ending and it would have been better.

7/10

Basing a movie on thing like this is... evilness?

Where'd you see it?

Why? There's like 50 movies about Auschwitz. What happened there is 100 times worse than 9/11.

Bump for the euro guys.

Well here we are. Cutman, the guy who disses 9/11 all the time and gets pissed at for people making merchindise off disasters like this, reviewing the movie he wanted to AVOID altogether. Well two girls, including my mother, wanted make me go see it with them. 2 girls versus one guy. Damn.

So anyway yeah, Cutman the insensitive guy who picks on people who take 9/11 every year round way too seriously, was STRUGGLING not to cry at this movie. Yes. After seeing those two guys somehow manage to escape with the help of everyday humans like you and I, rescue these trapped people in an impossible situation somehow managed to make my eyes water. Why? I have no idea. But it was great. I love movies like this, where it seems impossible to escape. Like Titanic or something. It's something i've grown to love over the years.

Anyway skipping all the BS let's say what I liked and disliked about this thing.

Liked:
1) The characters. The "Sarge" seemed like a really nice guy, you could tell he was gonna be lovable all the way through. Most of the people in this were great actors, I applaude them.
2) Multi-race. There were all sorts of people in this movie, which is always nice to see. It also leads to:
3) Not pointing the finger. It doesn't really show the "badguys" in this movie. Infact, terrorists are only mentioned once or twice. I was amazed.
4) Very emotional, cutty doesn't usually get this worked up on a movie.

Disliked:
1) Bush made an appearance. I thought I was going to make it through this movie without seeing our main monkey man. But nope he showed up. Damnit. If there was two things that could have ruined this movie, it would be him showing up and:
2) Jesus. Jesus Christ! Why?! JUST WHY?!?! It suddenly turned this movie into a religious **** up. 9/11 was real right? And jesus appears infront of this guy. So that makes him real? I THINK NOT! (Also, he had a strange resembalance to samara from the ring... God... I mean where's the goatee?!)
3) It was about 9/11. This doesn't bother me as much as it should, but really this movie could have been about anything. Example, you could have and earthquake knock some building down and two guys get stuck just like that, and have tons of firemen rescue them. Or even the Tsunami not long back knock over a building and proceed with the same events. I know this is supposed to be on real events, but it seemed like it was just trying to make up some sort of random plot to make you think about 9/11 some more. I dunno.

In all, this movie was good if not great. But it had some points which really put me off. In all, this is more like a story than a movie. I loved it but i'd really not want to go to the movies to watch something about a major tradegy turned into a source for entertainment.

I saw this last weekend in the new cinema that opened in my home town, I didn't really intend to see this but I ended up seeing it because there wasn't really anything else worth seeing that was showing in the new cinema. Apart from a film about a killer cow ( yes, you read that correctly! ) and some feminist film about an evil fashion designer boss! So heres me thinking ' World Trade Center, ok, thats pretty much the only thing worth seeing to me, so i'll go see it! '

Anyways, to be honest, I was expecting a exploit film, if you know what you mean. However, this ended up being good and there was tears coming from my eyes at certain points. Good human touch indeed. Oliver Stone was good at treating the subject in as senstive a manner as possible. This senstivity worked really well, especailly when the tower the two main characters in collapses, among the sudden blackness afterwards. ( It however, is overused in the film )

The appearance of Jesus was a nice touch. Some people may not like it but it worked well, it just comes to show how close they were to dying. The acting was top par as well, well done Mr Cage & Mr Peņa.

Some people may not like the film because of its title and subject but put that aside and what you get is a good disaster film with a human touch in its own right.
