Sprite Competition #85, Jonathan Jones

First off, congratulations to Bacteriophage for second place and to the three runners up!

This competition's theme is the briney pirate captain Jonathan Jones from SMRPG. It just by coincidence happens to go with the art competition. Here, have some refrences!

In battle he shoots out the fork with a chain connected to the pole. He also seems to have a hook hand in battle that does the same thing, but he doesn't have a hook in the art so whatever.

Looks a lot like Klobber's art.

I used his picture as a reference. The 3D one is kinda crappy.

To be honest, Nintendo began slacking on real sprites and drawings ever since they got their hands on 3d-model capabilities.

Well, I suppose not...

But I do think SMRPG itself could have used a little more drawings and a little less rendering.

Rendering was just then getting popular, and I'm pretty sure that would be Square's doing anywho. But yea most of it didn't look that great, but there's been leaps and bounds in quality since then.

I think he has 2 eyes. And that dot on his head is a dot apparently.

The gray spots are just gray spots.

I meant a really abstract creature. This is just a real animal made into a pirate. Besides, I said "might".
