I'm seeking an electric guitar.

Not too expensive, but expensive enough so that it's really good

What's the price range for those kinds of guitars?

EDIT: I also have a question. Do electric guitars have the ability to sound acoustic?

Check to see if you have a guitar center near you. My friend got a really good starter set that came with a decent electric guitar, stand, amp, and strap. All of this ran for around $130.

The guitar you get in the starter set is pretty good so I would start with that and get a better one later if you feel the need to.

Also, electric guitars can sound similar to acoustic guitars, but they never have the exact same sound.

A good guitar would coast about $250 and up. Good amps could coast around $150. I suggest getting a starter set (my brother got a decent guitar, amp, strap, picks, and carrying case for about $240) usually their pretty good.

And yes you can get an electric to sound like an acoustic and vice versa.

OH man, too bad you dont live near me or near Stockton.

I would have gotten you a great deal on a guitar and amp.

><

Dont go to guitar center.

Never, never, never.

They cheat people.

Uhmm probably get the start kit, it would be better for you to play with and your question about

"I also have a question. Do electric guitars have the ability to sound acoustic?"

Well, I cant say it's going to sound just like it, but on a Electric guitar it's not all really heavey rock'in sound. On the amp you can adjust it to the way you want it to sound. Maybe to a nice clean sound (which is better to practice with) or maybe a real heavey dirty sound (Distrotion) which metallica mostly plays with. They're many ways to make your guitar to sound the way you want it. After you get a bit better, you might find out about Pedals (sp?) which would make it easy for you to switch sounds and also maybe try using the Wa Wa handle, which would hold your note longer if you move it. Oh when you get pics, get the standard pic, but get one with grip, so it doesnt fall out of your hand (in case you sweat alot). Hmmm let me see. Get some cleaner to clean your guitar. (its good for the guitar) and thats it.

you can PM me with anymore questions. I'll be glad to help.

Or, alternatively, instead of buying an amp, you can goto your computer store and find a SoundBlaster Live! PCI card, so that you can plug your guitar into the card, and receive a line in from the card to record straight from the guitar to the computer without means of using a microphone.

There's free guitar amp programs online which can match the same effects you would get with an AMP/guitar processing model unit without having to spend the big bucks.
