QUOTE
According to PCGames, and translation from GoNintendo, some problems have arisen in one of the Wii’s production plants for the Wiimote controller and nunchuck component.

The website reports that in a factory the team visited, a production staff mentioned that mass production of Wii-related products has been a complicated and difficult task. There are a range of problems, from buttons being less responsive then they should, strange noises from within the controllers and others being easy to damage. The factory is testing samples and is working with Nintendo of Japan to further test the devices.

If these issues can’t be resolved soon then there could be significant problems with Nintendo’s launch, with a delay or potential hardware shortages. Whether the issue applies to other factories in production is unknown, but with the problems being button and casing issues, there seems to be a good chance of progress resuming soon.

The thing is, if Nintendo avoids a fail rate ahead of time unlike Microsoft then they can get the word out and avoid mass consumer confusion and retail shortages.

If anybody else can recall (probably only Nightwing and one other person) the Nintendo 64 prior to launch suffered internal digital electrical contact errors; however, because they thought ahead of time and manufactured enough units to fulfill pre-orders, the system met no negative response subsequent to launch, and went on to sell a hearty 500,000 units on launch weekend in both Japan and America.

So unless you're one of those idiots who believe that hardware reservation is "morally incorrect", you should be able to get a unit on launch.

Yeah, I saw a topic on the IGN boards awhile ago saying something like "if we get to have pre-orders on entertainment then we should have pre-orders on loafs of bread! Everything should be on a first come first serve basis!"

Well, I think I might just wait until a little bit after launch to avoid any possible hardware issues.

I take it that's from somebody who never remembers to pre-order.

This news is false, various members of the press, suck as Matt Cassiminathingy, have played on a final version of the Wii, and haven't experienced any problems with the controller.

1. No they have not. Final versions of the Wii have presumably not been completely manufactured yet, and even if they were, the press wouldn't get them as soon as August.

2. The Wii that the press has played at GC 2006 and E3 were pre-production units--of course the units won't be faulty because the manufacturer takes every stance they have to make sure of that.

Well, here's to hoping Nintendo plays it smart and can get the issues resolved quickly. It's hard enough waiting as long as we are, you know?

Last time I bought a launch system (Gamecube), it got disc reading errors way too fast. Soon it deterioated to a point of being unable to read but a very small margin of games such as Gameboy Player.

Although its replacement was also a launch system (another Gamecube)...

I will wait cause the price will go down after a while
Or I may never get it
Or I may get it soon, I dont know

If I had $300 or however muh it costed, I would rather buy some BAPEstas though.
Or something.

I bought my Gamecube a few months after launch, and it works perfectly to this day.

Depends on how the "POT" is set. I think it wqas set either too low or high that screws the GC laser to hell.
