It's not like they're trying to explicitly trick you into thinking this is real. Critiquing aspects of the piece in order to better the artist's understanding of what looks realistic and what doesn't is one thing, but to act like you've bettered him just because you weren't "fooled" when that wasn't even his intention is kind of bothersome.

Well you obviously overanalyzed what I said as nothing more than an attack on him, since I even acknowledged that what he said was perfectly fine in the realm of critcism. My problem was with his attitude in stating "the ears gave it away" instead of something more like "the ears could use improvement".

And of course I'm exaggerating what he said since otherwise people like you would miss what he was subtly inferring.

I saw his "nonetheless", but it seemed more like a cop out than a genuine expression of respect.
