QUOTE (Valve)
The cost of weapons and equipment that you purchase in Counter-Strike: Source are now based on an algorithm that calculates the global market demand for various weapons. As more people purchase a certain weapon, the price will rise and other weapons will become less expensive.

Starting October 11th, the prices you pay for weapons in Counter-Strike: Source will be updated every Monday based on the volume of purchases over the previous week.

This is a very interesting twist to the game, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

I always thought the weapons seemed alittle screwy. This might help balance the weapons throughout the teams.

Heard about this today. Obviously, lots of Counter-Strike players are crying about it, but I think I'll just wait and see how it turns out. So far, most of the prices haven't changed much (except for the Deagle, which is way more expensive now).

Haha, yes, now they'll actually have to think instead of awp-camping! Steampowered is going BALLISTIC.

EDIT: Haha, I just noticed the Deagle price looks to go up by nearly 50%!

From a Valve guy at SA...

QUOTE (Adrian Finol)
One thing to remember is that the current prices you are seeing are NOT showing any feedback of the weapon price changes. This means the prices will continue to move at the same rate they have been doing until we ship the update including this system and then people can start adjusting their buying habits to reflect what the system is showing.

We've been gathering data and running this internally for a few weeks now and the numbers have stayed practically the same (well, the NVG and the MAC10 are usually fighting for the least purchased spot). So just have this in mind when looking at the stats, the interesting stuff hasn't occurred yet (people changing their purchase habits based on price).

EDIT: Also, my plan is to wait for the NVG to drop to $200 and then ship a night version of de_dust!

i bet everyone will buy the next best gun after the awp to drive the price down, start buying the awp until it's expensive again, repeat

at least they're not using the awp always though

1: is this applying to normal counterstrike AND source? or only one?

Also, I never really liked counterstrike. The aiming is entirely based on luck, and the weapons are TOTALLY unrealistic. Desert eagle as a practical military weapon? Bah.

the ak-47 (and by association the 74) is a much less accurate weapon than portrayed in ANY fps but making it more accurate than it really is helps the flow and play style of the game, so who cares?

And yet there are players who "luckily" get headshots every time they kill. (and no, I'm not talking about hackers)

Bull****, my Saiga-308 AK clone I got has sub-MOA accuracy. Signifigantly more accurate than a standard issue M16. The only AKs that are inaccurate are either VERY poorly maintained, or cheap yugoslavian ripoffs.

@yoshimaster: well, the Steyr scout and AWP have perfect accuracy, but none of the other weapons do.
