Strange Tales from your Childhood

When I was about 4 or 5, there was a family that lived across the street from mine. They had a daughter who claimed that Dracula lived in her bedroom, and since I was so young and naive I wanted to see it. He "lived" in a hole in the wall, and she'd throw popcorn and stuff into it as an offering.

There were also the times where my older sister would mess with a Ouija board, traumatizing me into believing that I'd die in a car crash at age 37, and that she could contact Satan. Oddly enough, while we were trying to talk to our grandpa's ghost, a painting propped up against the wall suddenly fell over despite there not being anything to push it.

Anyone else got any stories?

Let's see, first thing I can think of is this chinese "folktale" thing that my mom used to refer to if I wasn't sleeping or something, chinese version of the "boogeyman"?
It was this witch or something of the sort who pretended to be an old lady and eats children, it was pretty creepy because the way the story went this girl's younger brother ended up sleeping with the witch and the girl could hear crunching noises
Wow, I'm surprised I can even remember this much XD in the end the girl ... killed the witch by knocking a cauldron of boiling water over its head? Also worthy of note is that the witch refused to sit in chairs unless it was sitting on top of the part where you usually lean your back on

How that chair thing was scary I HAVE NO IDEA BUT IT SCARED THE **** OUT OF ME WHEN I WAS SMALL

and in taiwan we lived on like the 5th floor of this apartment thing and the room i slept in had a wiiiiiiiiide window complete with big dramatic curtains and everything, and I could always see the witch flying up from the ground and going through the window XD


And uh, when my brother was still an infant I had this nightmare where he swallowed a coin or something, and ended up coughing out his lungs (and as a child I didn't know what lungs looked like) and so the lungs when they came out were like 4 feet tall and looked like the SEAHORSE BOSS FROM MEGAMAN X 3

I went to a Styx concert.

Okay, I was like 5 or 4, and we were at 6 flags. The ball pit was temporarily closed for some reason, but I saw a girl in the ball pit, so I pushed away a whole bunch of people, and was ABOUT to jump in, then some dude grabbed me and put me at the back of the line! Whoo, it sure was crazee.

I used to swear when i was like 2-3, and i'd say F**k(sorry for bypass but it defeats the point of the story) repeatedly in the car, and one day my mom said, say Truck not F**k.. so for a while i said Truck, then one day out of nowhere i said "F**kin Trucks".

Also my parents tried to make me stop swearing by washing my mouth out with soap.. but i grew accustomed to the taste..

When I was a kid, there was this half eaten banana that I had left under my bed, and like, it was new, not rotten or anything, but I was absolutely terrified of it. I would do everything to avoid getting close to the bottom of my bed that I could, including climbing onto the dresser and jumping onto the bed from there. To this day, I believe that my fear has been encased in that banana.

Okay, back on topic. Some friends in elementary school were into the "Bloody Mary" thing. I was so completely traumatized by the stories they told that I still can't be alone in a dark bathroom.

Laughing my lungs off at the banana.

Oh wow. Er. I used to pretend there were monsters in my parents' room when it was dark. I had to make sure they couldn't spot me. So when I was in their line of sight I crawled on the floor so they'd think I was a monster too. It worked with great success!

Oh yeah, school. Primary school. Bloody Mary was in the girls' toilets. Every time they all went in there to change for P.E they'd come back screaming. The story went... you look into the mirror in the toilet, repeat Bloody Mary a few times (5? 6?) and spin round 10 times. Then look into the mirror. A toilet will spontaneously flush. Then the fun starts.

If you were to say 'Candyman' five times in the dark he'd come to get you. Alledgedly.

We should teach kids about Candlejack; that'd really make

I went to a field that had all these pigeons waddling around. I turned briefly, and suddenly the pigeons disappeared, and there were these hugeass brown bugs (Potato Bugs, I believe) instead. I think I fainted after that.

Turn out the lights, face the wall, say her name thrice, turn around.

Turn on the lights or she will strangle you.
