This Event ends the 30th of September 2007!First of all, I think it would be better to have a new topic for this.
Reasons: The old topic is already long and it is mainly about the GAME. This also makes it easier for you to find all the stuff you need and also for me to find all the stuff you do.
So after all, I welcome you to the
"Create Your Own Level" Eventfor Super Mario Bros. DDX
What is this event about?I'm sure you know my game project that already has a demo on the MFGG main site, Super Mario Bros. DDX.
I want to give MFGGers the chance to create their own levels for this game.
When I first mentioned this idea in the main topic, it found big popularity.
So this is the event you have all waited for.
How to take partIn this topic, I will give you a tile sheet that is the basics for your level.
You will use this tile sheet and compile a level in any drawing program (Paint Shop, Photo Shop, Paint, etc)
After you created the level, you can post it in this topic.
When SMBDDX is close to finishing, I will take the best levels and they will make it into the game.
You will find out if your level is in there, when you play the game in the end.
The tile sheet and the rulesFirst of all, say hello to the tile sheet!

So you can use this and follow the following rules:
1) You can use this tile sheet, but you can also use any other SMB style tile sheet.
2) Do not use slopes, because the SMBDDX engine doesn't feature that.
3) You can use water. If you want a certain part in your level featuring water, just mark this part by e.g. drawing a transparent blue rectangle.
4) Generally follow the rules used in
THIS (That is for marking your ?-blocks, warps, and stuff)
5) ?-blocks can have: coin, 10-coin, flower, 1-up, vine, mega-shroom, starman, ?-switch, p-switch (default is coin, so don't put bother for marking those =P)
6) the p-switch changes all coins to blocks and the other way round.
7) the ?-switch does random stuff, so please say, what you want it to do.
In a level I have already made with it, it lowers the water level. Of course this is only ONE possiblity.
8) For enemies, check out any sheet. You can include every enemy from SMB, and also any other enemy. I can do them all (nearly), Bloopers, Lakitus and Hammer bros and already done, so you can kinda imagine what you can give me.
9) if an enemy carries any special items, mark this. enemies can include several coins, mushrooms, flowers, 1-ups (coin is default, just like for the ?-blocks)
10) A level should have between 2000 and 4000 pixels of width.
11) A level can be between 240 and X pixels of height.
12) You can make a vertical level. in this case, the upper two sizes reverse.
13) You can do any levels you want, bonus levels are wanted, too. They shouldn't be too long though!
14) You know what Mario can do, when you have played the demo. So please watch out that every level can be played, too. (Don't put in wall-kick passages, for example)
This is basically everything.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask them.
If you have any sheets that help other MFGGers to make levels, then post them. I will put them in this first post then. Or links to enemy sheets and stuff.
