Gonna try my hand at movie reviewing., Employee of the Month

Cast: Dane Cook, Dax Shepard, Jessica Simpson

Don't expect Dane Cook's best. This is a very predictable comedy that has jokes that you've probably seen millions of times before. Jessica Simpson's acting is as bad as milk from the 19th century and the rest of the cast, including Andy Dick, Harland Williams and Efren Ramirez (yes, that's Pedro) are just there and try to be funny and, for the most part, fail. The funniest stuff comes from sight gags and there are a few funny lines. For the most part, it's watchable, just not good. If you're at a matinee and there's absolutely nothing else playing, you could do worse. Unless you're a die-hard fan of anyone in the cast, you shouldn't rush out to see this.

The ending is ridiculous. In a tiebreaker, Dane Cook and Dax Shepard are in a competition to scan items or something and Dax just barely wins. When everything seems to go Dax's way and there's an award ceremony, the security guard brings the manager a tape that shows Dax throwing an item that he didn't scan into the cart and Dane wins. If you didn't see that one coming, you must also be asking "What is a movie?"

Pretty much. They're trying to become empoyee of the month (hence the title) to impress a girl (impress? That's BS. More like make out with.), played by Jessica Simpson.

I'd immediately give this movie an abysmal rating because I think Dane Cook is an unfunny ****head.

I was either going to see this or School for Scoundrels on thursday. After reading Mario Gamer's review of School for Scoundrels I was not excited to see it. However, my friends pressured me into seeing it even though I wanted to see this more. But it did turn out to be a fairly decent movie.

Now I will have to wait to see M_G's review of this to see which one he liked better.

But as of now I think we made the right decision. Mainly because Jessica Simpson is in this movie. She's a singer not an actress.

It wasn't amazing...but it was good.

Although it probably helped to be seeing it with Lemmy and well, insanity ensues.

Employee of the Month is one of those good ideas that you haven't seen before that are just ruined by a single actor, or in this case actress. Maybe it's just my hate for Jessica Simpson but holy crap every scene with her was unwatchable. You couldn't take her seriously. Maybe if she had one shirt that didn't try to show off her breasts as much as possible I could take her more seriously, but she completely ruined the movie with horrible acting.
On another note the movie IS a fresh idea that could have been so much better with good actors. There's no doubt Dax Shepard and Efren Ramirez (Pedro) stand out here while everyone else could have been recast without a fuss from me. Ramirez did quite a bit of physical stuff that was funny. Andy Dick was a real disappointment as well. What amazed me during the film was the actual size of the set and how it really looked like a Sam's. The hidden fort scene was pretty awesome. The ending appeared to be cliché until a twist was thrown in that made it even more cliché. Overall it was a good idea with bad casting. It had some pretty funny scenes but not enough for me to like it overall.

as long as she doesn't try to act again, let alone a serious role I'm fine.

She can stay off acting... UNLESS... she's in skimpy clothes like in Dukes of Hazzard. Then, let's see some more of that J-Simp!
