The other day, I realized that I had made a Mario related game almost a year ago, that I had never posted on here! I decided that needed to change...

STORY:
For a long time now, my uncle has said that he would like to have Donkey Kong on his computer. The most recent time was last Thanksgiving. About a week later, I thought to myself, "I have the ability to make games, don't I? Why don't I make Donkey Kong as a Christmas present for my Uncle!" So, yeah. That's the story. This game is a recreation of the arcade classic, Donkey Kong. It features all the levels, including the Pie Factory, and even the "Death Screen." It has a few minor bugs, but that's mainly because I only had three weeks to make it! Despite it's flaws, my uncle loved it and still plays it to this day, so I guess it served its purpose! Enjoy. Give suggestions if you'd like, but I don't plan to work on this game anymore.

KEYS:
Left and Right arrows: move
Up and Down arrows: climp up and down ladders
Space Bar: Jump

CREDITS:
MFGG and TSR for the sprites
VGmusic.com for most of the tunes.
Basementarcade.com for most of the sound effects
Everything else was ripped or made by me.

SREENS:

Title Screen:

Just to prove that it's in there:

NOTE: This game comes with the font "Joystix" which you will need to install to view the HUD properly. Just copy and paste it into the Fonts folder, which can be found in the Control Panel on the Start menu.

Scroll down a little and you will find a link to a windowed version.

Dude, just tell him to get MAME and the ROM wink.gif

Anyway, not bad but it doesn't seem as polished as the original. It's tiny things like the sprites not aligning perfectly and stuff, and the sounds are pretty bad in some places (I bet you could easily record the samples from the MAME ROM).

the game doesn't run for me, it just goes directly to the high scores window and then remains black. problem might be the full screen thing, could you give me a regular screen version please?

The reason it's not as polished is because I had to make it in three weeks. Also, I thought it would be cooler if I made it myself rather than just giving him a ROM.

And, mr.mario, here is a windowed mode version. See if it works better for ya!

Say, Toodles, you should make a sequel, with enhanced graphics, and new levels!

When I played through once there were only two levels. After I beat the first level again I ended up in level I didn't see in first playthrough.

sorry, if it sounded confusing.

EDIT: Oh, and I liked this game, but not really well polished like it's pointed out.

Uhh...I think I had the same problem as ultramario...When I finished the first level, it went straight to what I believe is the third. Of course, I'm not too good at Donkey Kong, so I died there and got frustrated, so I closed it. But still, shouldn't it be going to that level with the springs instead?

No. For level one, you just play the first level and the last level. In level 2, you play the first, spring, and last level. In three, you play all four levels in order. From there, the game adds the first level in again to lengthen the levels. That's how it was ordered in the arcade version.
