Do you still consider Sonic a good rival of Mario?, Honestly plx

After wondering what it'd be like if Sonic was to be in SSBB and to have a Mario vs Sonic battle, I got pretty excited considering how long I've waited for a game to do that, but just now I realised that Sonic/SEGA arn't really rivals to Mario and Nintendo anymore, but instead to be honest they're a laughing stock right now considering how many more great platformers are being released, compared to SEGA's mediocre Sonic platforming games. In all honesty I hope for Secret Rings and Next Gen to bring Sonic back his worthy title of "Mario/Nintendo Rival", but in all honesty I don't think that's going to happen, from the videos I've seen it just looks like the past few 3D Sonic games but with better graphics (Except Wild Fire looks okay).

I just don't really care about Sonic vs. Mario anymore. It'd be great if Sonic was in SSBB, but I'd just see him as another "Newcomer" and not teh omfg ultimate rival.

Not really...it's not like I put too much thought in it over the long time I've been playing video games either...

For some reason I'd like to pretend they were pals or friendly rivals if they met up, but I know Sega isn't one of the big ones, and I know everyone hates Sonic now really. It'd still be quite a blast if he was in SSBB though, just as it would be for any other third party character to cross into the Ninterritory, just with the added old rivalry factor.

Sonic and Mario are pretty equal. I love their games and hope they never die.

I don't really see Mario having any..."epic"...rival, at all. The closest he ever really came to that would be in like Super Mario RPG (of course), and even in that he hardly had any relation with the people he met.

Sonic's been pretty much reduced to a cliche spouting rodent that ****s Soap sneakers in his off time and has 5 billion friends he ignores.

The soap shoes were removed after Sonic Adventure 2(with the exception of Adventure 2 Battle, that doesn't count though), unless I forgot a DC game or such, as I swear that Sonic doesn't have the fancy shoe grove thing anymore and everyone and their brother can grind now, except Big who rides on his arse.

He stil ****s his shoes. He loves it.

He certainly used to be, but since Sega went multi-platform and started screwing Sonic up with ridiculous story plots, he doesn't really deserve that place anymore.

In the past, I knew Sonic as the second best platformer character, direct rival to Mario. It was a 10 year lasting battle if Mario or Sonic was better.

But unfortunately, Sega screwed it up.
Sonic is nothing but a laugh. Even if he would win in SSBB, I don't consider him as a "rival" anymore.

Still, if he's in SSBB, it'd be nice, since fans have been waiting for this moment for 15 years now. But on the other hand, I can imagine lots of people have lost their interest by now

For some reason, I can picture Sonic and Waluigi getting along well. They're both in a sucky position; Sonic is forced into crappy games, Waluigi barely gets any screen time.

Add them dressed as goths and cutting themselves that something special.

Sheesh, I thought Shadow was supposed to be the miserable one.
