Do you still consider Sonic a good rival of Mario?, Honestly plx

Well **** they're adding Pit and Snake why not Sonic

Sonic doesn't belong in SSBB. It's characters such as MegaMan that have been on Nintendo platforms for decades that should be allowed in, not just anyone. It's nice that Nintendo are allowing third party characters in, but they shouldn't go overboard.

Sonic doesn't fit even remotely. He'd be a terrible character.

Sonic doesn't fit in because he's Sonic. And Sonic sucks. And SSBB shouldn't suck, so Sonic does belong in it.

They added Jigglypuff, Ice Climbers, Pit, Marth, Roy, and Snake.

The games don't suck as long as you don't play it alone. Well this goes for Melee anyway. I've never played the N64 one.

Melee's alright in multiplayer, sure.

those are all either owned directly by nintendo or by second parties

anyway, sonic isn't even worth paying attention to anymore so who cares if he gets in

Sora would never be in SSBM. Square and Disney owns him.

Now, for likely rivals to Mario, I'd have to say the closest (and recent) one would be Crash Bandicoot. The style of his games are very similar, except they also add in elements of "vehicular" maneuvering and "escape" levels (Though I suppose the Mario equivalent would be scrolling levels and SML vehicle levels.) Sonic is more of a speed game character, and really has no close rival to associate with, which is why people typically turn to Mario for this.

If you think about it, Crash is right in between the two. >_>

Snakes had only what? 3 or 4 games on a Nintendo Consle and Sonic's had plenty including the Exclusive Advance series and Sonic Rush.

Anyway, they're both pretty crappy nowadays, although I'd say I prefer Sonic now, because he still has good 2D games.

Agreed, a character who atleast has been mildly loyal to Nintendo deserves the spot more than a character who completely abandoned Nintendo after the NES, though i do like Metal Gear games.

Gotta say, I stopped caring about the whole Sonic vs Mario thing. They can't let one of them win because the fans of either character would start a riot if either losed.
