This has come up a number of times, and I feel I should post the following observations/questions for discussion (with no offense to anyone in particular--we're all humans here).

Upon seeing something neat that someone else has, why is the first instinct of nearly everyone to copy the neat thing in question?
Is there some sort of behavior drilled into our minds that tells us to do anything it takes to make ourselves less unique at every given opportunity?

Your thoughts?

It's an age old "i'm being a smartass to get out of getting in trouble for saying a bad word" thing, which I thought most people got over after primary school.

A small button that says "show" or something to that effect upon it that, when pressed, adds a MD5 hash of the person's IP to a database. 3. From thereon, people who have their IP hashes sitting in that database will be able to see the sigchat, while people who don't... don't. It'll be entirely opt-in. How does this sit with the powers that be?
