i just can't find a way to let mario run only if you press right or left , and if you release one of them he stops or if you press the other key he stops with a skid sprite.

i was trying to make my own engine. but it's hard if you don't have any experience
with gamemaker.

You can look to my Yoshi Game engine, Yoshi Demo in this game, yoshi can run with different images, and he stop when you release the keys.

and i want to run just like in super mario bros 3, you know that he slowly walks faster if you press B(gameboy) and after a little while he run with an other sprite. ph34r.gif

Here's a very basic thing you asked from me. There still are some problems with collisions but they aren't that bad. Here you go.

PS I suggest you to do this: when you give a sprite a name, always use _ instead of a space! Else, you can't use it in codes. If you have any questions, you can always ask me.
