Not to long after Super Luigi Dreams' release, I have already gotten to work on a new platformer. (No, I won't be working on SLD2 for a while. Sorry.) Super Luigi Dreams was intended to help me practice making a simple platformer game, and this one will use more things like power ups, bonus rooms, and more! But I'm not here to say "My game is Super Mario Island and it's the best fangame ever!". Here's some info about the game. laugh.gif

Story
It's very calm in the Mushroom Kingdom and Princess Peach was been tremendously bored with all of her paperwork. The Mario Brothers thought it would be a good idea if they got Princess Peach, Toadsworth and all of her friends to join them on a vacation to a tropical resort located on "Sunshroom Island".
Upon arrival, they learn that the island's 7 kingdoms have been attacked by Bowser and the Koopa Kids! The island has a variety of rare items and among one of them is a powerful mushroom deemed the "Bowshroom" by, of course, Bowser. If someone eats the Bowshroom, they turn into a hideous monster! The Koopa Kids have force fed the kings of Sunshroom Island the Bowshrooms and now the once peaceful island is being overrun with Koopa Troopers! It's up to Mario and Luigi to save the kingdoms and stop Bowser and his mass production of Bowshrooms!

sad.gif What's the difference between Mario and Luigi? They're both italian, they can both jump. I don't see the point of having them both in there.
laugh.gif Well, Mario is faster and Luigi jumps higher. Plus, there are abilities that Mario can use that Luigi can't, and visa versa!

laugh.gif Let me finish. I can't tell you that part, but I will tell you a few power ups. There's the basics like the Fire Flower and Hammer Bro Suit, but there'll also be a few new ones, like the Ninja power which will make Mario disappear if you hold down, and the Pirahna power which will let Mario create a Pirahna vine whereever he wants, letting him reach those hard-to-reach places.

laugh.gif 2 for each area. One subboss, which will be a Koopa Kid and one king who was turned into a monster, and by defeating him, you'll make him spit up the Bowshroom and change back!

laugh.gif It's going to be RPG overworld-inspired, inwhich you can look around all of Sunshroom Island without completing a single level, but in order to play more levels, you will need to, of course, complete previous levels!

I never played Banjo-Kazooie (never liked it xD)

I'm still programming enemy AI but I do have Goombas done. I'm using the custom goomba sheet I made that topic in the arts board on.

Update: I made a few enemies... Goombas and Koopas, and right now I'm developing the ability to hold Koopa Shells and kick them at other enemies. I'll put up s'more screens once I've completed the first demo level. (I'm giving you guys two demo levels) wink.gif
