A very Animal Crossing esque game, it features Mario on Halloween night.
The story begins when Mario's prized possessions were stolen by that creep of creeps, Fawful. Toadsworth and the others would like to help, but the spirit of Halloween has made them candy greedy! They stole some items back, but in order to get them, you'll have to bribe, play games, or even take a few chances.
Go around, hitting up on houses to get candy, which is used to buy your items back from Fawful. Be careful: The houses are either run by happy, mean, or drunk Toads! Happy Toads give you candy, mean Toads take candy, and drunk Toads will do either! You'll be able to tell whether or not you've hit a house by what it looks like. They eventually reset, with new Toads running the house!
Of course, what's Halloween without costumes? In many ways, costumes help or hinder you on your quest. Sometimes they make it more likely a nice Toad will show up, or you get more candy... and sometimes, they make mean Toads show up more often, but increase the amount of candy you get from nice Toads exponentially. All in all, it's a huge game of luck and chance. So far, I have two costumes. If you have any M&LSS edits into cool costumes other than Raccoon and Jedi, PM them to me.
The minigames run by a few Toads are simple: win a race, take a quiz, and more.
It's big so I don't know if its a mini-game, but since it really has no point to it, is it eligble? Unknown. Still trying to figure out how to make the player able to place objects (or whether to have them placed in fixed spot in Mario's house, that's easier but not as fun), buy objects from the store, plus a partner would be really nice. Who knows? Also, there are some neat secrets other than the mysterious Mario Statue. Perhaps you can figure them out?
This version is very simplistic and not near finished, but you can get a feel for the size of Toad Town and check out some display items. As you can guess, one of 'em is very expensive (I'm pretty sure I'll have it as a prize, though).
Have fun, check it out, and sign up for partnerships. I use unregistered Game Maker 6.
And here's something else, too: if you have any mini-games that are old and use unregistered GM6, give them to me. I can use them as Toad events!
