I'm trying to figure out what some of the files in the NSMB rom do. Hopefully it's not against the rules of this place to upload one of them (it's a small piece of graphics).
Can anyone tell me how to read this file?

edit: Added another file from the credits. It's an ENPG file. What's weird is... Out of all the ENPG files used, this one is the only one that has a Photoshop 6.0 signature inside the file! Coincidence or not?

Eh..
I don't think you can open it at all.
Try to figure out the format. I'm sure there aren't any ENPG viewers around.

It's very rare that you will find a file format you can read. Even if it has an extention you recognize. These files are all proprietary formats - some collections of graphics, some compressed collections of other files, some of them are model data, sound data, program code, etc.

The best you can possibly do is to load it into tile molester and see if you can recognize anything, and go from there.

Well...
But, just what exactly is with the PS signature in the Staffroll_new.enpg file? And why is there a NSBTX file with the same name?

Also - I tried using BMDview on all three of NSMB's models (weirdly called NSBMD), SM64DS's models and MKDS's models. None of them work - BMDview justs loops "Read" in the window and BMDview2 only displays a grey window and some text saying "W: Wireframe".

these are pretty small files anyway, so i doubt they'd hold anything other than coding

Can't explain the photoshop signature.

NSBMD isn't the same as BMD from the J3D engine in Super Mario Sunshine (and a few other games).

These files look more characteristic of pallete data to me, or a small unpaletted image.

I thought NSBMD might be BMD, as it also has a BMD header. But MKDS's and SM64's BMD files don't work either, so maybe something's different...

Now I'm really confused.
I tried opening some NSBMD files in Tile Molester. Seems I can see some graphics...
Set Mode to 2-Dimensional and Codec to 4bbp Linear.
