Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make, Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan

Okay let me say before we begin, the movie is dirty. I mean really dirty. And offensive.
But somehow it twists these things so when you see it you aren't offended, in fact you're on the floor laughing your ass off.
While the film wasn't as funny as I expected it was still a awesome movie. Sacha Baron Cohen is amazing and never once breaks character. A lot of people in the film are also hilarious and whether they're actors or this was filmed without people knowing, I don't know. But some of the faces of the people are astounding.
The film style is great in mimicking the documentary, plenty of gags like dubbing over languages. The script was well done and original. The ideas of visiting different cities was good but could be even better if it felt like you're actually in the city.
Borat is a really good movie, and I do think it lived up to most of the hype. It's quick, funny, and full of gags. While the story was a bit dry in some places and there was a lot of nudity that could be taken out, (the photos) it was a solid film.
The whole Texas scene in the hotel and the Jewish bed and breakfast were one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life. My god.

Jews look out.

Make some sense for a change. Christ, you don't support that 7/10 with evidence besides a silly comparison to a completley different movie, and that the funniest moment you've ever seen in any movie was in this. Also it didn't live up to your assumption of how funny you thought it would be. Is that why it's a 7/10? It isn't as funny as you hoped for? What if you didn't think it'd be funny at all and saw it? Would that bump it up to a 9/10? These are just so vague.

Also, did you know the actor IS jewish? Just saying that since it seems like maybe you also gave it only a 7/10 since you wouldn't want to offend any members.


Just compared this to a bunch of the movies you rated higher, and gee whiz, Borat has a solid 92% on RottenTomatoes while most of the stuff you gave an 8/10 or higher has a 72% or lower, Pirates of the Carribean 2 having the lowest. So yeah, I'm going to see it and expect it to be pretty good, since it seems like you have a strong taste for movies that aren't so good.

Why in the world did you compare Anchorman and Borat? They aren't in any way similar.

Because he expected Borat to be at least fifty billion times more hilarious than Anchorman.

This movie was hilarious, indeed the hotel scene was crazy and unexpected, everyone in the theater was laughing their asses off and I was laughing and covering my mouth cause it's shocking and stuff.. these people in front of me walked out of the movie!

Okay maybe comparing it to Anchorman isn't the best idea. Like I said it wasn't as funny as I expected. The movie had about six scenes that were just too funny but the rest of the movie was kinda blah. And yes I know the actor is Jewish.

Oh I'm sorry, I guess I have to agree with everyone else just to make you happy.

Heh.... I too covered my mouth out of shock. Not because of the nudity but because Sacha Baron Cohen actually dared to do this stunt. Cause admit it, some of the positions on the bed weren't that pleasant.

My respect for Sacha Baron Cohen increased enormous after watching the movie. I recommend to anyone who is up for a laugh. It's one of those movies that make your day.

Okay I changed it a bit, when I saw I gave She's the Man a 8/10 which was not funnier then this.

I'd give the title alone a 1.

that movie kicked ass so much

Everyone over here in Ireland is talking about, at home, in college, everywhere, people were talking about this. so, thats why I went to see last night. While not as funny as I thought it would be it was still amusing. VERY dirty and offensive though, for example the photos and the hotel fight scene..... yikes! How did he get away with some of that stuff!!??

At least now I know what people are on about when they talk to me about it. I'd still recommend it though, providing your not easily offended!

I love how some people complain I don't give things high enough scores while others complain other things are too high.

My brother said he laughed his ass off which means iI would probably laugh my ass off too.
I'll rent this on DVD or something.
