Finally got the game yesterday, after 3 hours of Sonic last night I can give you a good taste of what to epxect.
SONIC'S STORY
You start the game off with a nice CG cutscene intro. After that, you arrive in the city of Soleanna, the city IS HUGE. 3 times the size of Station Square. Theres a ****load to do, and extra missions to complete, like "SAVE MY DOG PETE" or "RUN THROUGH THE RINGS". You meet up with Tails right at the beginning of the game, so he becomes your amigo for a time. You can buy upgrades and new moves from the store, but you need cash. And by cash I mean rings. You can get plenty of rings depending on how well you rank on missions. Did I mention you can also scale the rooftops of the city? Also, at random moments you have to face off against a bunch of badniks, really fun part. The havoc engine is bea-uti-ful. I hope it's used again in future Sonics. The controls are nice, homing attack has been lengthed, and Sonic moves fast, so thats all good. Collision detection is ok, better then Heroes. Grinding is kinda bland, not much you can do, its automatic. Has nice grinding effects though, eh. Loops are back, even the wall jumping from adventure. Mach speed areas are CRAZY. High speed running, and ****load of terrain to watch out for. The turning is pretty bad in this area, and the random falling debris makes it more chaotic. All in all, pretty damn fun.
So that was just 3 hours worth, I'll play it more later, for now, this game gets an 8/10.
If you guys and gals got anymore questions, ask away.

| QUOTE (Kritter @ Nov 17 2006, 02:20 PM) | For anyone interested, the full version of the main theme "His world" can be found here:

Some people despise the lyrics, but I actually find it all tolerable, I quite like the themesong, and it gets stuck in your head REALLY easily. |
Good lord, what an awful attempt at "melodic rock".
Anyway I played it too...the control is awful in my opinion, the physics are sort of stretch, and the gameplay is meh unless you're playing as Sonic. There are really poor glitches, like in one desert level you can actually FALL through a floor Superman 64 style only 15 seconds in. Other annoying glitches is that sometimes sedentary boxes will start violently hovering or flying in the air, which is probably something caused by the unpolished use of the Havok engine. The music is also not worth your time - aside from some orchestrated Sonic compositions we all know and love, there's also the infamous guys who worked on Shadow and Adventure's ****ty music, so if you're playing the game on 360 I suggest putting your own CDs onto the harddrive.
The one thing that surprised me was that the story doesn't seem half bad. I got to about 37% complete in Sonic's chapter, and the story is certainly a lot less ass than it was in it's other console equivalents (the fact that the models are well done and their lips don't sporadically move and not sync with the dialogue is a plus too). The game is also a graphical wowzer in some areas, and the motion blur and first beach level are lookers.
