Could you perhaps give some examples or some guidelines as to what defines "excessive stupidity", otherwise it'll be grounds for argument when people commit that offense.

To clarify, this doesn't mean you aren't allowed to act stupid; you just can't be stupid. It's not so much a rule that will be enforced in regard to individual posts as much as it's a rule that will be enforced toward individual members. Most people here won't have a problem and won't have to adjust their behavior in accordance with this new rule, as any "stupid" posts they make are typically in jest and aren't an issue. I'm hesitant to name names, but if you're the kind of member who has a post record consisting almost entirely of posts so stupid they distract damn near the entire active populace, you probably won't be here for very much longer.

EDIT: What Trasher posted is a good example. That's the kind of stupidity I mean, not just joking around and the such.

Yeah, that's kind of the line you have to draw: once you become so stupid or lack so much common sense that normal discourse is interrupted (for example, posting "I HATE SONY" in a topic about PS3 sales. Still on topic, but stupid), that's when punishments come in. We'll add it to the rules in a bit.

As with everything we've always gotten into messes enforcing though, the actual definition of "stupidity to the degree that it becomes a distraction or disruption" is going to fall into some heavy grey area.

I'd to point out (so that both praise and complaints can be directed properly) that this wasn't just my idea; we've been discussing this for quite a while now, and recently it has become abundantly obvious that we really need this rule.
