| QUOTE (Parakarry @ Aug 17 2004, 11:00 PM) | Ha ha, funny stuff.
I think I have an idea now. But it has to be drawn well, and I still have stuff to learn about it looking good.. |
Protip: Get the image in your mind first and using a pencil, VERY VERY lightly sketch out the pic. Don't worry about making all the details and stuff, just get your anatomy and whatnot down. These days a lot of what I draw doesn't really look like anything at first, just a shape that vaguely resembles the character. Erase if something doesn't look right, when you get the sketch drawn take a good long look at it and think hmm, is there anything about this that doesn't look quite right? And if you see something that doesn't look right, change it.
Then when you're satisfied, ink it.
It helps a lot. And the more you do it, the more you WANT to do complicated poses, because it's just so funnnfdjfa

I dunno. I tend to do the same thing, only I press on the pencil harder. Everything looks dirty and smudgy until I pencil it in darker, and put the outline.

I do that sometime too. My method varies. Sometimes I don't even use a pencil, I usually only do that if the pose is really simple though.

Inking is another thing I tend to stray from now too.
I've noticed that my inking work doesn't look nearly as good as my pencil work.
Though it used to...

I've noticed that "inking" digitally (in photoshop or opencanvas) is a lot easier for me. ^_^ It's more forgiving of mistakes (what with the undo button XD) so if you mess up or aren't happy with how it's turning out you can always start over.
...but that's just me...
