In my opinion, the single player in Doom 2 was vastly superior than single in Doom 3.

I never found the levels in doom 3 to be compelling, as it almost always would be: Dark Corner = Zombie

However, Doom 3 has a serious kickass engine. And the mancubus boss was a "blast". Hell was cool too! With the blocks flying around and all that.

But it felt good seeing the first imp burning up like that.
Ha ha.

But eh, there's a bunch of better stuff I guess, in the custom content scene.

No one can be bothered to mod for it though. Same with Q4.

Doom2 is where it's at.

Mostly because no compiling times, no loading times and the fact that there's still a rather large community following Doom.

More like crap easy to mod and map for it. Doom3 doesn't take too long to load for me either.

Doom 3 takes two minutes to load a level for me.

And 'sides, only four people in multiplayer?

Four people in doom2? That's because you upgrade to a better port like ZDoom. And then play all my kickass mods.

No, Doom 3. Keep in mind, I don't have the expansion.

It's not Doom 2, but someone is way ahead of you.

Indeed, this is what D3 should've been.

It's sad that the Doom 3 mod scene is almost completely dead. It was a cool idea for id to use all dynamic lighting, but it can't handle radiosity yet (the thing that allows a single small light to brighten an entire room. That makes it incredibly hard to have bright indoor (or even outdoor) areas.

Doom was what taught me about system requirements! Back when it was new...

"JUST GIVE ME DOOM!"

"YOU DON'T GET IT - it WILL... NOT... WORK"

"YEAH RIGHT YOU'RE LYING"

Thanks to Quicky, I was able to play Doom 2 a couple of weeks ago. It's a great FPS, and it has awesome controls and weapons. It's not scary, but I got freaked out in parts like when you open a door and there was an imp behind it that just pops out at you. Unfortunatly, this computer sucks at the onliness of Chocolate Doom (the Doom 2 port Quicky gave me) but single player is fun as it is.

Use Zdoom and nothing else. Ignore quicky's stupid opinions.
