EDIT: And anyone, give more critcism about my picture so I can learn how to sprite and if there's anything good about picture, you can tell that too. And now I know that it's completely wrong size.

You simply resized the sprite didn't you?

Meh, it's hard to explain :x
Well, alot of people sprite by zooming in on a bit of space, and carefully adding pixel and pixel of colors. You looked like you just drew that and resized it.
Remember, sprites should be able to be used in games easily, and anti aliased stuff usually never works. You resized your original picture with something like smart size, so it's all anti aliased.

That's just it. It looks very good, but it's hardly a sprite. But if your sprites are as good as this pic, there's not much to worry about. ph34r.gif

Sorry for doublepost but do you think that I drew that sprite?! Of course I made it pixel by pixel, I'm not so dumb as you think!

@Toni: Thanks! ohmy.gif

Appearantly you are (no insult intended, I'll explain why), for obvious reasons:

1. You double-post repeatedly on purpose when you could simply edit your previous post. It doesn't really matter how sorry you are for that double post. If you really feel that sorry for a double-post, then don't post a double-post.

2. You made it pixel by pixel? How stupid do you think we are? It's of course a resized version of the bigger pic you posted before. Not only does it look exactly like the big picture, it's all blurry, too.

QUOTE

3. For the last time, this is not a sprite. Just because it's smaller than before doesn't make it a sprite. And this is a sprite comp. Your entry must not be a picture (resized or not) but a sprite (hence the sprite in Sprite Competition). Pixel art of not spritely nature is borderline acceptable if it could theoretically be used in a game if it had more frames of animation.

If you still don't know what sprites are, take a look at how other sprites look. Play some 2D games. I doubt you'll ever see a blurry resized picture-"sprite" in an official game.

And yes, I meant what I said when I said that your picture looked good, but even a good looking picture is not a sprite.

Sorry if this sounds overly bitter and dramatic. It's not meant to be, I just wrote it to make you understand the concept of sprites and pixel-by-pixel-art, which you seem to have a misunderstanding of. smile.gif

I mean I made that big original "sprite" pixel by pixel. Yes that is just resized picture.

Isn't that original big picture sprite? What makes that it isn't sprite if I made it pixel by pixel?

I think I'm not gonna enter these Sprite Comps anymore until somebody really explains me what makes my original big Pianta "picture" and not "sprite".

It's still a resized picture. In fact, it's always the same resized picture (just with the black this time). Are you hoping that this picture will someday magically transform into a sprite if you just post it often enough? Didn't you read any of the explaination I gave you?

It's really a shame, because the picture really looks good. But it's still not really a sprite. Please, play some classic 2D games (maybe even Mario games) to get an idea what a basic sprite should look like.

*sigh*

At least get rid of the excessive anti-alias (especially on the outline). Better yet, redraw it pixel by pixel. Don't keep resizing the same image again and again. It will not magically turn into a sprite that way. It has to fit somehow to some kind of game.

Some examples:

And if you can still not see any difference between a picture and a sprite now, I have no idea what else might help you.

Slam, shut the hell up, First of all, the bowser sprite could easily be from a game. as its not anti-aliased, its in proportion to a Mario sprite, and its not in some unusable pose. Now, TGM's is not a sprite because it IS anti-aliased, and its NOT in proportion to a Mario sprite.... Got it?

1. Sprites ARE pixel art. Please quote were I said that pixel art is not allowed!

2. His picture is resized, heavily antialiased and not usable in any kind of game. Feel free to prove me wrong (and I expect to see a screenshot)!

3. Giga Bowser is big. As in BIG. Really BIG! So obviously the sprite is bigger than an average Mario sprite. Got it?

I've never seen Toni lay the smack down on anyone, up until now. And I liked it, I think I would pay money to see it again.

It is possible to make a sprite out of what you made, TGM, trace the resized guy pixel by pixel and shade it pixel by pixel. This is easier if you have a layer-based image editting program. nod.gif

Actualy I totaly agree with you Pixel art should be fine. Especially when it's just about all you can do. Here you can do sprites.
