Flushed Away looked like a great movie when I saw the previews. It's by the people who did Over the Hedge, Madagascar and Shrek. So it had to be somewhat good, right?
Nope. And I say this with every bit of honesty in my body. Yes, the animation is amazing and one, if not the best I've ever seen. But the story, if any, was god awful. The clichés, my god we must've counted over 30. They ruin the story and what little originality it had. This doesn't help with bad performances by Kate Winslet, Ian McKellen and Bill Nighy. Hugh Jackman is decent but too...normal at times leaving Jean Reno to stand out. I really can't get over the fact that how boring this movie was, it was almost a pain to watch the same story we've all heard. So, we ended up jumping over rows and crawling around in the theatre. Thankfully no one else was there, though I can see why.
The only thing I can say this movie has going for it is the great animation, modeling itself after claymation, it's convincing and pulled off very well. But, everything else sucks. Skip it.
