talk to your friends like the teacher isn't there and don't sit
if the teacher hits anyone take the chairs throw them out the window then go back to talking

While a "lack of believe in a god" certainly comes with being an atheist, I'd say that "not being anything" would put him closer to being an agnostic, because he hasn't explicitly denied the existence of a higher being nor does he hold any belief that there is one.

Although, if he really wants to take the "not being anything" stance, he would have to completely ignore the question of religion and not make a statement either way. An example would be:

"So, do you go to church?"
"I like baseball."
"I'll assume that you're an atheist then?"
"Chocolate chip cookies are pretty sweet."

As for the nun, it's crazies like that who give us sane Christians a bad name.

The more I think about this, the angrier I get at that nun who did that, and at the kid's messed-up parents. Not only was it wretchedly wrong what they did to the kid - I can't imagine how I would feel if my parents me for half a year for pleading with someone if that person had afterwards knocked me down stairs and broken my arm - but also, like the post above said, they give a bad name to Catholics and Christians (though they're not actually representative of them), and with their actions fuel anti-Christian bigotry.

Come to think of it, though, I'm not so sure that nun even was a proper nun at all. I thought nuns were always supposed to wear habits, or some sort of special clothing at least. If she goes around in a sweater, she sounds to me like a rebellious nun that doesn't think much of real Catholicism anyways.

Okay, screw the teacher right now, sue the parents.
